Might be going to Amsterdam in March, is it expensive?
The ticket is already paid for, so I would just have to cover my expenses while I'm there. He wants to just stay in hostels, which would be the cheapest way I would imagine. I'm buying a house in Feb, so money will be tight.
Is food/drink/entertainment (not hookers) expensive? :2 cents: |
it depends where you're from. i just got back from there a week ago, and it was pretty expensive. the exchange rate with the us dollar so i kinda got fucked.
the hookers are relatively cheap compared to the us, the price for em starts at about $50/$75 we were spending about $200/day for the two of us eating. an "american" cookie might run you $3 |
i wanna go
|
Ya, I'm not planning on the whole hooker thing. I'm not trying to get out of the country to cheat on my girlfriend with a nasty dutch hooker.
My buddy was going with his gf and now her work might not give her the time off, so if that happens, I go. Just looking to see the sights and get shit faced. |
if you're going in the winter, be sure to go on a friday or saturday. amsterdam is just DEAD during the weekdays during the winter.

nice 3* hotel room in the center of Amsterdam did cost like 130 euro / night
meal in cafe - like 30 - 40 euro don't think anything changed since september '07 |
hostels are a good way to go, you can always break up the cost of meals by going to a grocery store! Also do yourself a favor, never buy "cookies" or anything of the sort; it's like getting a shooter at a titty bar!

you lost me a little with the 1st post
seems like you're talking about yourself, then you mention "him" also, hotels arent that exensive either, i slept there in a hotel that was like 110 euro per night, although i realise its $150 dollars or so but thats still cheap compared to the hotel where webmaster acces takes place anyway, Amsterdam is quite a nice city, althogh relatively small lots of Dutchies here, so just hit up one of them and he'll show you around if you need it personally, i'd also go back to Amsterdam for a few days , but in March its rather too cold |
Awesome, thanks for the tips too.
I'm pretty sure we'll hit up the hostels since it will seriously help the financial situation. I've never been, so I'm looking forward, if it even happens. |
Take a look at http://www.booking.com/ for all ho(s)tels with their prices...
Diners in a restaurant are not that expensive. When youu go for a simple 1 course meal, it will cost you around 15-20 euro. edit: eheh just thought about this, if you want really cheap) buy a cheap microwave(40euro) and buy ready made(fresh) meals at grocery stores for 3-6 euro's.... |
