Robbie Williams is some British pop singer... The only song I really liked of him was that duet called "Kids" he sang with Kylie Minogue.

You know who else from Baywatch is a successful singer now in Europe? David Charvet! He's the one that used to go out with Pamela Anderson, and his new song "Leap of Faith' is REALLY good, I was surpised he could sing like that!

He's not talking about Robin Williams the actor, but about Robbie Williams the british pop guy who went solo after being part of a boy band.

He's had a few big hits and is huge in England.

He's actually huge in Europe. He's sold millions upon millions of albums, and he's worth big money. The deal is actually more complicated than $125 Million for 4-5 albums, he's setting up a company to manage him and his tours and other business affairs, and EMI is getting part ownership of that company. So they'll be reaping money through that. There have been rumors of him as the next James Bond.

I hope you're joking. That was Robin Williams. He's what, 50 years old? Robbie Williams is a british pop star. Used to be in a boyband called <i>Take That</i>, most famouse for their song <i>Back For Good</i>.

I never knew anything about singing Frank Sinatra songs in german, lol. But he did do a cd called <i>Swing While You're Winning</i> and performed live at Albert Hall. Covered a lot of the old classis, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr, etc.

David Hasselhoff, unfortuantely, does sing. A friend of mine has his greatest hits CD. He saw it at a music store in one of those cheap junk bin piles for only 2 bucks. He just had to have it, even if it was just for the novelty!

Anyways, back to Robbie! He is pretty huge, in most places i think, except for the US. He's got some pretty cool tracks..

As much as I did hear the deal with EMI does also include that they will push him to a super star status in the US so get prepared :Graucho

Oh yeah, get prepared is right. Lets put it this way, this boy is so big that two albums ago he could put the line 'single handedly raising the economy' followed by 'ain't no chance of the record company dropping me' and have no one question the lines.

His pending marriage to Rachel Hunter will raise his profile over there but he is simply the biggest artist in the UK and most of Europe.

I kind of like him cause firstly he can sing live but also because he was the fat, ugly one in the biggest boy band in Europe at the time (Take That...had one song 'I want you back' in the states in 1995/6ish) and no one thought he would do anything. They had another guy tipped at being the successful one and this guy comes out and blows them away.

They tried to push him in the states a couple years ago but they didn't really put much effort into it. For one thing the really slick video we had for the beautiful song Angels was replaced in the US with a cheesey video that looks like it was shot on a cardboard set.

To borrow one of his titles, get ready the ego has landed.

I agree noone ever thought he would get anywhere after Take That. But as things turned out he is the only Take That boy that has become successful.
Come to think of it, wasn't he thrown out of the band? There were some rumours about him being gay at one time too...

Anyway I am a big fan of his and he is really huge in Europe. I remember when he received an award a couple of years ago, he thanked all "for his supermodel girlfriend, million dollar house and the super cars in his garage" or something like that. He is not afraid to say things as they are :)

He himself even admits he's confused, sexually. He was really young when Take That first started, and they were mainly doing gigs in gay clubs and the like. I think he got a lot of .. attention. Probably enough to make him question a few things.

I wasn't living in the UK when Take That were in their mega period but from what I have heard he was kicked out or left.

For American folk...this is like Danny from New Kids On The Block suddenly becoming a mega star in his own right.

The boy is a showman and as much as a LOT of people wanted to hate him when he went solo because of the boy band thing he managed to win most of them over. Especially when he went to the Glastonbry rock fest when he first went solo and faced a cynical rock crowd who were ready to bottle him but by the end of his set he had them in the palm of his hand.
