Have you ever rescued an animal?

We have two dogs. Both of them rescued.
One from the SPCA (Buddy) and the other from a puppy mill (Tiki).

Buddy is your typical cross of Lab and German Shepherd. Great dog. Super loyal and obediant.
Tiki is a teacup Chihuahua runt. Friendly little guy with a couple of birth issues (one eye is smaller than the other, his frame is crooked, and his tail looks as though it was broken or something).

I have to say though, that these are two of the best dogs I have ever owned in both my adult and younger years. If you're ever thinking of getting a dog, consider your local shelter.

All 5 of mine are rescues - 4 puggers and a retarded 15 year old cat ;)

I let a mosquito outside instead of killing it.

Loyal and obedient...isn't that why you got married? Or FunB won't do the peanut butter trick so you needed a dog?

I rescued Buddy from Indiana.

What are you saying Ron?

Ya, I rescued a dog from the pound that was fighter. It was sad. He was all scared up and, it sounds weird, but you could tell he didn't want to fight. He was a lover.

Until some cocksucker stole him from the backyard. Fuck, it still pisses me off.

at least 10 dogs and 10 cats :)
was a little zoo at my house :D

*raises hand*

Both of my dogs are shelter bitches, one cat from a feral litter, and the other two cats are fosters for a friend who's living over seas. The third dog came a part of a package deal when I rescued my human pet from his ex-wife ;)

Multiple times!!

I come from a family of people whom love animals. The first I can remeber was when I was 5-years old: an abandoned female retriever-cross whom just gave birth to a litter of 8, under the stairs of newly built (empty) home. We adopted all of them.

My current flat mate, Gangster#1, is a (large) stray tabby (cat) whom I let move in one (Alberta-Canada) bitterly cold March.

I've seen too many cats and dogs in my life, whom are/were missing their ears (frost bite), and it breaks my heart that people are such shit heads when it comes to the innocent creatures whom were their responsibility.

My girlfiend and I work with, at and for a local no-kill rescue. We've had and have foster cats. We've had a few dogs and even kept one we fell in love with.

If we had more land, we'd probably start one of our own. If not a rescue, it'll be a zoo.

If you're going to compare my wife to a dog, Ron... you better pepper that reply up with a bunch of smilies.

I rescued my mother-in-law's cat stuck up about 30 feet in a tree one time Chris :thumbsup

Cat was fine but I was all scratched up:(

DivaShane 01-29-2008 02:39 PM

As a kid I rescued every stray cat I came across. Sadly I can't have any pets that aren't in cages (hence my two geckos) but when I find strays I make a round of calls to see if any one wants to take it. Generally by the time the whole network has made their calls some one wants the poor thing. I hate to send animals to shelters because I'm convinced that this animal that I'm taking them will be one they have to put down.

Yes I was walking my german shep when we found a tired and hungry little yorkie in the woods and brought home.. boy, she was so much fun, my best companion for a long time.

mattz 01-29-2008 02:44 PM

I threw a cat off my roof once if that counts...sucker would have died from the heat if I didn't

My Buster is a rescue dog. He was leash reactive and not very well mannered when we got him. He is the best dog ever now. Our two kitties we got from a lady that rescued a pregnant stray cat. The cat had kittens and we took two of them. They are 4 years old now and have the best personalities.

MaDalton 01-29-2008 02:48 PM

yes, but i actually ate more than i rescued
