Which registrars don't steal the domains I'm looking up?
I've read that a lot of registrars steal every single domain that is looked up in their whois form. Which ones are safe to use?

Always try and by as you find one.

Moniker and Godaddy are about it

I registered 5000+ names with www.enom.com and they are one of the biggest registrar. You can trust them.

i'm all about enom. //g

While you should always just register the name if you like it.. I've never had an issue with either Moniker or Namecheap doing it.
|
namecheap.com works great for me.

I would go with moniker. Buy as soon as you search, and if you dont want the domain you have 3 days to delete it and get a refund (minus a small fee).
Whatever you do dont use Network Solutions. |
I've checked the same domain a couple days in a row - waited a week, and then bought from GoDaddy a couple of times now... domain was still available.
...for whatever that's worth. |

Damn, I was wondering about that. A couple times I checked a name, went back a few days later and it was gone. I thought it was a strange coincidence. Motherf*rs.
I don't remember who the registrar was though. |
