VISA in PLAIN ENGLISH

Ok, guys, I have just spent a ton of cash on LD calls to several CC processors and here is what I found out:

For all webmasters wanting to continue to collect from VISA, will register with VISA through paperwork that will be provided next week by the cc processors and pay the $750. Then anually the $350. No big deal in my book.

US webmasters have it easy. I think you all know what you need to do legally.
US address
US bank account
US tax ID if your a corporate or business entity
Social Security number if your an every day Joe.

For foreign webmasters
http://www.greencard-visa.com/settin...businesses.htm

Start reading!

These guys and others will help you set up your US company, with your US tax ID and US address, and US bank account!

The total cost is something like $350 dollars.

So your total investment to take care of this problem will be about $1100 US dollars.

Hope this helped.

btw, anyone who is sacrificing to do this, keep in mind, the other major CC cards will soon follow, such as Mastercard, etc...

this is what is getting lost in this whole thing, VISA is going to crack down(via the pressure its now putting on the third party processors) on all dubious practices including some types of content. I'll be interested to see in the future if the word 'teen' gets put on the prohibited list. Think that's a possibility.

I also think all of the third party billers are going to be way more stringent when it comes to how people run their paysites and I don't think sites with higher than average chargeback rates are long for this world. Not sure if VISA cares or not about copyright issues.

Think about the possibilities of the big guys. You get all your employees VISA cards and now tell them to subscribe to your competition. Now wait 3 month and chargeback all 3 month worth of payments from about 20 employees and voila competition gone.

I think most of the webmasters that are allready complying to a certain unspoken set of rules, will not be affected by this or future regulations, unless they (VISA in this case) are REALLY going to headbutt against the porn industry as a whole.

The really hardlines sites will be shut down and there will be solutions for them, trust me. Anyone wanting to sign up will have to use some sort of NEW ECARD, or something, that will be like an online check. You deposit money in X account and use your ECASH online. Simple. Alot of that allready exists.

As far as the current regs are concerned. I am not worried. Nor do I think foreign webmasters have any problems with the link I just posted.

If webmasters do not have $1k to invest back into their business, then the are barely hanging on to it in the first place.

This does not affect referral or affilate partners.

Fuck Visa.

Not likely. Good idea though! :)

It would have to be a well thought out, spaced out plan, and if they are big enough, they will get back into action without a sweat. Visa regs or no visa regs. Money talks.
Visa will just say, ok, do this, fill out this form, pay a HUGE fine, and Listo back in business. :)

And eventually that would come back to the employees and then the competition.

Everybody, get yourself a Discover card and use it for all your credit card purchases.

ColKurtz 10-04-2002 10:36 AM

Heres the real plain english.

Visa is sick and fucking tired of being associated with all the scamming and what not that many big pornographers use on their cardholders.

They are forced to come up with ridiculous regulations because shady 3rd party billers refused to police themself and the smoke and mirror tactics that some of their big clients use.

The big 3 looks for best way to tell webmasters about these regulations and big brother policies. Make it seem like they are doing some sort of favor. Use spin such as "good for the industry" "barriers to entry" "just pay it, its only 750 dollars, no big deal".

The regulations are not going to stop the same scammers from burning thru merchant accounts and corporate shells doing the exact same shit that lead to these problems.

So in the end, nothing is solved. Just pissing money down the drain.

So basically.....

You need to pay 750 plus 350 annually. And if mastercard joins in these numbers would double.

In addition to that, you still must pay 3rd party 15% of transactions.

Did I miss anything?

I'm sure lawyers are working around the clock looking at these policies and reviewing the 3rd party contracts that people have signed.

I run two other businesses. A brake shop and a small import business out of Mexico.

Almost every fucking week, there is some new problem. That is just business. Do what you can with what you have. Be it money, lawyers, accountants, etc...

Laws change all the time. The porn industry is going NOWHERE. The governments of the world have been regulating forbidden things for as long as history exists, so....

These little bumps in the road are in my opinion, a part of doing business. Ride with them, make as much money as you can in the process, live a GOOD life, LAUGH as much as you can, and one day you will be old and die. It will happen in a blink of an eye, so might as well roll with the punches and get busy with hopping those bumps.. :)

I think thats one of the nicest posts I've seen on this subject. Thanks for taking the time to try to help others.

Almost brings a tear to my eye! :)

:lol

Thanks... (blushing)

anyways, with all thats going on, the cc processors are going to release some faqs and tips, that may help orient US and foreign webmasters a bit more on how to get all there shit together.

1.paperwork comes out next week sometime for all of us to sign.
2.more faqs and help next week as well.

That will put us all comfortably below the Novemeber 1st deadline and October 15th submission deadline of paperwork.
