aff is a ticking time bomb. one day their server will get hacked and everyone running their cool iframe ads will be infecting all their hard earned surfers with virus's

How can you say that? And cannot we say this about any thing on the web, including all other sponsors, traffic trackers, etc.?

dozey 02-02-2008 09:48 AM

One day, any other hosted content server could be hacked resuling in exactly the same predicament...

Why is this significant?

Curse you Vick, beat me to it.

Knew I shouldn't have spent so much time trying to phrase my post in a subtly condescending fashion.

it has nothing to do with that, it's the geo targetted text code "find someone to fuck in .... bla bla bla"

Is it just geoip ads doing it? If so my mistake.

My AFF traffic imploded today.

Half a billion company, can't even afford reliable server management. They don't shave enough?

xmas13 02-02-2008 11:09 AM

It's ironic, yesterday i was considering dropping them. Mother fuckers.

Didnt think about geo ip ads since I dont use them. Personally I think most surfers have caught on to them and dont pay attention.

xmas13 02-02-2008 11:11 AM

I use geo for the U.S. market, not for Europe. Anyway, fuck Penthouse.

because aff iframes are prob the most widely used, but i am certainly not singling them out as the only ones this could happen to, this could happen to any company that uses iframe promotional material.

SmokeyTheBear 02-02-2008 11:35 AM

a good idea would be for those iframe ads to have the "security=restricted" tag applied to them, this way in the event of a security breach on aff's end the iframes content cant disrupt your pages content

dozey 02-02-2008 11:39 AM

Seemed like a very arbitrary thing to point out, given the context.

It has already occured a few times over advertising networks FYI.

CyberHustler 02-02-2008 11:42 AM

Their ads work on my sites today...

ipolic 02-02-2008 11:44 AM

You should always use iframes, not remote javascript SRC for loading such ads and you will not have any probs. Even if their server is brilliant javascript SRC ads will always result in slower page load, it's how browser spider/render content.

Just my 2cents.

Its not about bandwidth .. most people use geo iframes, it helps loading city name of surfer and pictures in iframe from aff server.

may be you think so because you are a webmaster? ... iframes are still rocking for me .. may be enough new and fresh surfers joins the interwebs daily .. whatever, I just count dollahs.

TheSenator 02-02-2008 12:55 PM
