Romney wants to be Vice President

after that speech today McCain will have to ask him to be his VP

kane 02-07-2008 02:32 PM

I doubt it. McCain will already have trouble getting elected. Taking the Mormon with him would only hurt. I think Huckabee is a more likely VP for him.

Very true, but the religious right, which controls much of the power in the republican party, does not like McCain and there is a strong chance they would not support him. Without their support he could lose some key stats and lose the election. He needs someone like Huckabee who the zealots like to help get them on his side. If he takes Romney he is basically giving them the finger and there is a strong chance they will not support him and he would lose, possibly badly.

I don't like either of them, but politically speaking Huckabee makes more sense.

LilBro 02-07-2008 03:15 PM

romney is locking up his run for 2012...ull see

Vendot 02-07-2008 04:23 PM

Nah....... Huckabee will drop out.

So he'll have to take Ron Paul as his VP :1orglaugh

At least he'll feel young and after Mccain's speech today at the conservative place, he said a lot that sounded like what Paul says.

notoldschool 02-07-2008 04:23 PM

mccain and Guliani. Done deal.

LiveDose 02-07-2008 04:30 PM

Romney would be nuts to tie himself to McCain. Political suicide.

Wait till you see what starts to come out about McCain...

kane 02-07-2008 04:39 PM

In a way I almost feel like the republicans have just decided to throw McCain to the wolves and let him pay for the sins of the party by losing the election. He gets what he wants which is to be the presidential nominee and run for the office and they get to restructure and get ready for 2012.

stickyfingerz 02-07-2008 04:43 PM

Im hoping for Thompson being on the Vp slot. Long shot, but Guiliani would make me consider not voting at all.

tony286 02-07-2008 04:43 PM

my father is a card carrying member of the rnc and he considers Huckabee a nut job. He represent the republicans of old, small government, conservative but wants to stay out of people's business. There are alot of them out there like him and if huckabee is vp they will be staying home.

It's a damned if you do damned if you don't for McCain. The Christian right has massive power within the party and they don't like McCain and may only support him in part if he ends up against Hillary because they hate her more. He needs their support, but will have trouble getting it. Huckabee appeals to these people, but not to the old school republicans that want to wrestle the party back from the Christian right. If he takes someone like Huckabee he risks loosing the old schoolers, if he doesn't he risks loosing the Christian right. At this point and time the Christian right have much more power within the party than anyone else so I think he will try to appease them first.

Just look at 2006. The Christian right turned their backs on the party and gave the house and senate back to the democrats. Without them McCain has no chance.

Except that the politically active religious right hates Huckabee.

Not if you look at the primaries, they were pretty much the only one's voting for him. they may not be in love with him, but he is the closest thing to a real candidate that hey have. The religious right carried him to wins in Iowa and several southern states. He gets few votes from people more in the middle.

IllTestYourGirls 02-07-2008 06:35 PM

you do not need to take a a candidate running for president. there are more than 11 or 12 republicans to pick from. Watch him pick Lieberman :1orglaugh

The conservatives would never support this ticket. When Anne Coulter says she'll vote for Hillary over McCain you've got BIG problems.

Jeb Bush anyone?

sinclair 02-07-2008 09:00 PM

Romney drops out will not be picking up anymore delegates.

Huckabee stays in, if he continues to collect delegates he will have to be recognized as the only VP choice.

Then we are all a weak heart beat away from a nut job. Guess it could be worse Ron Paul could be the nut job in waiting.

Yeah, Mccain is far less crazy than Ron Paul. Atleast Ron Paul knows that there is no money to support a 100 year war in Iraq. Thats fucking downright looney. I love that republicans are so fucked up they know nothing about their own history. Republicans are an embarrasment to our entire nation.

Red Ezra 04-13-2008 12:11 AM

I still think it's a McCain Romney ticket - who's with me?

crockett 04-13-2008 12:28 AM

Any of the three would be a lost cause for this country..

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 04-13-2008 02:37 AM

Everyone has a dream:)

However rest assured if Obama makes the Democratic ticket I am going with McCaine for sure.

We are in the process of electing a world leader and Obama has a good word for everything but is way to inexperienced to lead this country, let alone working with other countries.

Not many Americans think that way I know...
So go vote for Obama people I kinda like Republicans.

MovieMaster 04-13-2008 06:54 AM

In the end Republicans will win...

Whoever gets the Dems nomination is screwed

Hilary voters wont show up to the polls to vote for Obama

Obama voters will not show up and vote for Hilary.

They have really only 1 choice if they want to win, be on the same ticket.
And if the DEMS convention is brokered and any other person is put in as their candidate they are really screwed ie GORE....

While McCain isn't liked by some republicans he has had plenty of time to mend some wounds, and voters know what they are gonna get and so on, while i really really don't like Romney, in the end I think more republicans will show up to the polls than the splintered Dems campaign and prove again the democratic party are a bunch of retards and wishy washy positions that no one really knows what they really stand for.

The real question is if Romeny gets vice, its an obvious play for next election to run as president, but against who? a now politically tested obama?

You are 100% right ... Lieberman lately has been the shadow of McCain.... ( not IN the shadow )

s9ann0 04-13-2008 08:50 AM

I think picking romney could help realy lose McCain the election.
