How often do you reformat a Windows Install?
 

i think its time again , i do it like 2x per year once i see shit is fucked up...


XP SP3 coming out i heard?

Did it kinda every 2 month, till i finally switched over to MAC :) Now i got one pc with vista64 running and like 3 MAC´s. Never formated the vista one so far..

I've been using the same XP install since 2001. You're all a bunch of pansies.

I try to go 2-3 years. When I buy a new computer or do a major upgrade.

It needs to be reformated at least once per year.

Otherwise you will need to update your hardware.

Windows is made to motivate hardware sales.

I remember MS finally came out last year and recommended that you reformat once every year.

Still, I don't usually do it that often... maybe once every 2-3.

1-3 years... depends. I usually treat my computer good, and keep nasty spyrware and virus away!

ok i am a little dumbfound here.. why would you reformat your harddrive, wouldnt you loose the OS and whatever applications you have installed etc?

that makes sense, do you make the external a mirror of the OS hd + applications or are they just un-installed versions of the applications ?

I have 2 XP installs that date back to 2001; both machines in use.

2 daily autp backups of critical data and all apps are backed up in original packages , and windows cd is all that is needed to reinstall

never, but then again I only use legal software. My comp has been in its untouched state for 4 year - no reinstall, no blue screen ever. Runs like a charm.
