A nice base dedicated server would suit you well... P4, 1GB RAM for example.
Should be good to go with that. Pricing will be $80-$120'ish from a good provider

baddog 02-29-2008 05:50 PM

Well, you are probably going to want to start off with a dedicated box. Find a host that will allow you to adjust your bandwidth usage without raping you since you have no idea how much you plan on using and there is no way to determine the amount based on the information provided.

webair has always done right by me.

I signed up with theplanet about a year ago and do live shows and streaming.

They seem very reliable and price is fair, but thats only my experience.

Rochard 02-29-2008 05:55 PM

National Net is the best when it comes to hosting and they can set you up - quickly - with whatever you need.

Well if you want to get your new project off to the right start contact the guys at www.techiemedia.com The truth is I have been with several other hosts and the bottom line is Techie is simply the best. Also take a look at www.RealityCheckNetwork.com

Our SM1 ( semi-dedicated ) package would work perfectly at $150/month and allow you to start without heavy costs. As your site continues to grow we can easily scale you into a dedicated server.

We're already hosting some of the largest blogs on the net - contact me on ICQ: 4930562 and I can detail an exact quote as well as explain what makes our service stand out and allows you to grow your sites with ease.

NationalNet hosts many tube style streaming video sites, we can set you up on a 2 x dual core processor server with min bandwidth to commence, that way you can grow your bandwidth and have a server capable of handling it. We also have lots of experience in streaming media technologies.

I have not provided specific pricing or details as you have asked not to be spammed......so please contact me on [email protected] or [email protected] to discuss this with me.

cheers,
Luke

I recently moved a server to PacificRack and will probably be moving over to them completely in the next few months.

The Planet rocks until you want/need to upgrade your box.

Hi Fujiko--

I'm with MojoHost and have found them to be totally kickass, on a number of levels. I come from a non-technical background, and this is what their service looks like from my POV: I never have any server-related headaches.

More specifically, I never have problems with connectivity, and I never have problems getting something done when I need it (despite the fact that half the time I have serious trouble even coming up with a coherent description of what it is I need, lol!).

"More Than Managed" is a very appropriate slogan for MojoHost. It's accurate. Not only are they responsive, they are proactive about making sure that their clients have all of their bases covered. And, best of all, they do it all with a smile...Brad and the rest of the crew over at Mojo are genuinely cool, friendly people.

Since you're doing a bit of research in this area anyhow, you might read up on the performance study released by CCBill recently. Sorry, I can't post the link because I'm new here, but an article about it can be found at Xbiz: xbiz(dot)com/news/web/89998

MojoHost is among the hosting companies endorsed in CCBill's report. Being one of their customers, I can certainly understand why.

I give 'em a big two thumbs up!! :thumbsup:thumbsup

I see the timeline is short here, so if you haven't already checked into us, Cavecreek CDN is built for streaming vids. Check my sig and contact us about getting a custom quote that will fully cover all your needs.

And good luck with your site.:thumbsup
