Just make sure to take a photo of all your gear and have it ready to send out. If the buyer trusts you then you can command a much higher price AND get paid in full up front. I have sold a ton of gear on that site so I am trusted. I will vouche for you not because I know you, but because I see you as a very talented person and people so talented tend to have integrity. :2 cents: What camera are you going to be shooting with from now on? Be careful of the new Sony EX 1 because it has a rolling shutter and that will mess up any video where strobes are popping off. |

looks great - good luck!

What cam are you replacing it with? I am curious because I was about to go out and get a few HVX's for a project
|
Wish I could but im stuck with only a 1k budget, and thats over kill for shooting video of my son.
If I had the cash though, I would jump on it, as its an awesome deal. |
Good luck. Wish I had the cash to spare on it.

Hit you up ICQ.... want to talk about it when you have a minute
|
any reason yourgetting something new... i abot to drop some cash today on cameras I was looking at the hvx and the z1u... why are you selling the panny what are you going to get next? how many hours does the panny have on it?
|
From what I have gathered from your other threads you are getting the sony PMW-EX1.
My question is what are the pros that made you want to sell the HVX and go wit the sony. I am curious because I was about to get a par of HVX's but want to hear from an HVX user why he is switching to something else. IMO some of the drawbacks of the HVX is the P2 cards are expensive but the cards for the sony are not that much cheaper plus you can always get a firestore for the HVX and have plenty of room. How much better in low light is the Sony than the HVX? Thanks in advance for any input. |

I think the hvx is bad because of the p2 cards... talk about inturpting a workflow.. so with 16 gig p2 cards you can capture what 50 min of HD footage? so now think... when doing real filming... not just talking for porn but real filming.. doc's , tv shows, movies ect ect.. you may capture 200 hours or even 300 hours (tapes) before you even start to think of sitting down and throwing it all into your NLE suite... now is it me or with the p2 cards and the ssd cards that the pmw uses... everyone has a workflow... I see the p2 cards working wonders if you can set up raid after raid after raid or drives and it may be usefull for someone like the BBC.. they have editors all over the world so to keep the footage in real time on drives like that is OK... now let me ask you this... now you have 600 hours of HD content on harddrives and you get a failure in your drive? loose everything? that could cost a shitload of money... say you pay 1000 bucks a shoot for the girls now you shoot it.. got it on harddrive... now what happends when that drive crashes? do you loose a shitload of scenes that could have been archived on the master HDV tape it was shot by? like right now as we speak I have shitloads of tapes sitting here for edit... and even more sittinghere that has already been edited and what not... see what im saying? dood ive kept my fucking self up for like 3 days now on this subject for cameras... ive prolly read everything there is to read on the 4 cameras.. the pmw, the v1u the z1u and the hvx... and to be honest I have it narrowed between the v1u and the z1u ... there must bea reason that big tv networks are picking up sony cameras so I may go with those.... |

I must admit I am def not as knowledageable on any of these cams but like the idea of the tapelss workflow...its just as you said not a lot of shooting time on 16gb at the highest quality. Can you use the DVD Tapes like in the PDW-530 etc? |

like I said before.. I shoot lots and lots of content.. I have lots and lots of content now.. god forbid that the drives crash when you use these tapeless means... I know some that do tape and card at the same time... the pmw I have read to many bad reviews on from inde filmmakers to even consider myself.... right now im really really really and I can't stress how really torn I am between the v1u and z1u... some people do not like sony HDV they claim colors run and melt ect ect.. but again im back to someone like discovery channel they have all the money in the world but they only use z1u's for all the shows... in the end I guess you gotta get what works for your projects... I shoot a lot of stuff... commericals, porno, reality shows, docs, weddings, you name it we shoot it.. so I need to be able to be out in the field and switch a tape out quick and still have best quality... with p2 cards you need firestore, then you got that god awefull mtx file that I have not met one person who likes.... so I dunno as you can tell by my abnormally long post this is a subject ive been wrecking my brain over for the past week... if you want to get together on ICQ and pick both our brains about em pro's and con's I am always down cause I do need the help on deciding... tomorrow is d day for me I gotta buy tomorrow.... |

I have not used some of the places here so I can't say how reputable they are but the prices are VERY cheap. http://www.diduprice.com/stores.asp?...sas=1&ssort = |

If you're worried about your hard drives crashing, why don't you back everything up? As a content producer you'd be mad not to have that redundancy. I do hobby stuff so I don't go overboard, but I do have RAID, a separate backup drive, and of course the original master tapes. (Should probably keep the masters offsite...) Hard drive costs are coming down all the time, I don't know about HD video but with old school miniDV my cost to store an hour's worth of footage is about the same regardless of whether it's a miniDV master tape or a 13GB file on a hard drive. It's no longer necessary to spend $10k on an enterprise RAID solution for long term storage. :upsidedow |
