This whole spitzer thing really stinks.
He was transferring less than 10k from his bank account, a few times. This is a wealthy man. This for some reason makes the bank flag this to the irs who then flag it to the feds. They then wire tap him. Sounds more and more like someone wanted Elliot no longer in public office.
|
Maybe because he ruined so many people's live when he was the AG and made sure to prosecute men who "dared" to "hire" prostitues?
Karma's a bitch !!! |

Been that way for a long time. I remember when I was a negotiator my boss always made them for $9,900 just for that reason. |
I know up here in Canada it's deposits, not sure about withdrawls... There was a Soprano's episode where they mentioned it as well and it was for a deposit.
What stinks more is that you can't be human and run for office... A person needs to have life experience IMO to lead... that means some bad as well as the good. |

If anything needs investigated it's how he ended up getting the Feds on his tail. |

So this "stinks" because a Democrat got popped? If he was a Republican you'd be dancing in the streets?

1. Do you think it stinks because he is a Democrat? 1a. If no, why do you think it stinks? 2. Would you be elated if this was a Republican scandal? |

1a. Because its like big brother watching. We hear about terrorists could strike here at any minute and the fbi have nothing better to do.Then go after a guy who likes to fuck whores. 2. I dont like the circumstances he was caught it wouldnt matter what party he was from. |

I dont see how it stinks, he swore an oath to uphold the law but instead violated the public trust. Consorting with criminals opens the door to extortion and bribery. He dropped up to $80,000 on sex with prostitutes according to the records from the Emperors Club. It's amazing this kind of stuff still goes on. All public officials should know that any kind of illegal action will eventually come to light. We live in a society where there are no secrets anymore because there's no privacy anymore.

Maybe his prostitution stings worked a little too well? hehe

His bank reported "suspicious transactions" months before - they started watching him. They discovered the prosty thing because they were watching him. They used a modification of the 10,000 limit inserted into the patriot act, that allows them to look for lesser amounts to find terrorists, to flag his banking and authorize the surveillance. It's explained in these two articles. http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/story?id=4424507&page=1 http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=8211 |
If this was anyone on GFY we would still be making cash withdrawals and running hookers across state lines (about 15% probably are anyway) ... This poor guy got nailed because of who he is, not what he was doing. Serves him right though for preaching about his own vices.

I stand corrected.

I figure the interesting part of the story now is, are we going to learn more about the investigation? or is everything going to be shushed up?
I'm sure they are going to try to make all the messy details of the investigation go away, and concentrate on the anal sex. Everyone loves a good anal sex scandal. |
