Why does some women prefer to date ugly men?

When I was single, I'd rather dated an ugly interesting man than a brainless playboy.
Physical attraction may be a starter, but if the guy is only that, I got tired really soon.

Brains may be good for dating, but what happens in the bedroom must suffer if you're not physically attracted to the other person?

Another question I have is why do ugly men not realize they are ugly? Sometimes I think ugly men believe beautiful women are blind.

maybe cuz ugly men put out the extra effort to make a lady happy... all the little things like opening doors, actually showing up when agreed upon, texts/notes/calls just to let the lady know she is being thought of.

besides... ugly men need love too

Every guy I've ever been really physically attracted to, wouldn't be considered good looking or handsome. It's usually the smart/witty combo that I like. It's always something they say or whatever shit they talk. I can't explain it. I just know it when I hear it.

And I was married to a GQ, always had to look hot, kind of guy. Which probably explains why we're now divorced, lol.

Women are strange like this... If we're attracted to a guys personality, then he becomes sexier physically because we see the inner beauty. :thumbsup There is a limit though of course, like with anything... :1orglaugh

I always firgured it's one of the reasons why you see so many ugly guys with hot chicks. To me there can only be three reasons-

1) He has a fantastic personality
2) He's hung like a horse
3) He's loaded

Me personally I don't care about 2 and 3, but there are those that do.

What should they do? Hide in the corner just because they are ugly?

In the past I've always gone out with the not-so-hot guys because I find them more intellectually interesting. And yes, they're not so full of themselves that they act like they're god's gift to women. They had a great sense of humour, too. All that put together makes a man more appealing in the bedroom and out.

I lucked out this time, though. My current guy is smart and funny and kind and also pretty darned hot. :)

Personally, if a guy is really funny and has a great personality, they become much more attractive. Take Will Ferrell or Jack Black. They aren't good looking guys to say the least, but I would want to date one of them over a guy that is dull and serious and very good looking. Of course, having a guy who is funny, smart, and decent looking is even better:-)

Lets see I am average at best in the face, deformed spine/rib cage, and to top it off paralyzed. Never had an issue getting women and never had to just settle for one either.

Lets see:
Hung like horse; nope.
Loaded; nobody knew my finances anyways and by looking at my stuff it doesn't show, plus always didn't have money.
Fantastic personality; some say I have a great one, others can find me quiet.
Intelligent; Suppose so.
Sense of humor; I can laugh at myself and get other to laugh.
Misc; Passionate, caring, helpful, patient, appreciative, loyal, truthful, pays attention, remembers, and is typically kind.

You do realize that just because a guy is good loooking doesn't mean he's good in bed.

Maybe I'm being too literal. The OP used the word "ugly" and a 6 would be close to "average", not "ugly". We all have different ideas of what is attractive. I would think by "ugly" it would mean 5 or below for one's personal tastes, whatever that may be. Would you feel the same way about a 4 or 5?
