DALLAS, Texas (AP) -- A woman threw her two young children from a freeway overpass during Wednesday's morning rush before leaping off herself, police said, and somehow all three survived the 22-foot fall into traffic.

"It's a miracle both kids weren't hit directly by a passing car," Dallas police Sgt. David Burroughs told The Dallas Morning News in Wednesday's online edition.

The mother was hit by a vehicle on Interstate 30 near downtown and listed in critical condition, police said. The boys were in good condition at another hospital. One of the boys had a broken arm but both could communicate with paramedics, police said.

Police said the woman and children had been riding in a car with a man when the adults became involved in some sort of altercation. The woman and her children got out of the car and the man drove off, Burroughs said. Police were searching for the man.

No identities were immediately available.

There was a story in the media over here recently of a guy who threw his 2 kids from a balcony before jumping himself, while on vacation. He had an argument with his wife.

I'm sure 1 of the kids died. Both he and the other kid had broken arms etc...

This is absolutely horrific. People every day making decisions to hurt these innocent children who did NOT choose to be brought into this world. How would you like to grow up and deal with the fact your mother THREW you off an interstate bridge??? WTF? How does that not scar you for life?

I am an adoptive parent of 2 kids whose whore mother used meth while she was pregnant with them. She really fucked up their lives and continues to fuck up her own. I agree that people should have to pass a psych eval and a written test to have kids. If you fail- you are not qualified as a parent. I don't give a shit about peoples rights to have kids. Its a total crock of shit. If you can't feed em... don't breed em. People SUCK!

Sadly, the woman probably thought she was doing what was best for her children, seeing no other way out for herself or the kids.

I hope they get placed in a family that will be able to take better care of them, and I hope the woman gets the mental treatment she obviously needs.

i can see why some mention licenses to have kids and what not. Though often when these types of things happen that person was fairly fucking normal until they crack and when the do crack they really crack.

I woke up this morning turned on the news and they were showing this...( I live in Dallas) its a fucked up world we live in. I had to go downtown this afternoon and was saddened driving under the bridge they were thrown off of. These kids are old enough to, for the rest of their lives, remember what happened to them and have to say "my mommy through me off a bridge." These kids are lucky they survived. It was 6:30am and dark! Also glad it wasnt a taller bridge.

Actually that one is a surprise. Typically when women flip like this it ussually is a white girl. Same as when some wife goes "missing" its always some white dude saying "I dunno where she went, I came home and found her purse but she left...rolls eyes... I think we all need to pray for her safe return"

Reminds me of a similiar incident in east Toronto a few years back - chick tossed her kid off a bridge and then leaped herself.

Just plain fuck'd up.

Its too bad friends and family can't recognize any signs (if there are any) ahead of time and possibly intervene.

Some similar story happened here in Moscow just a week ago. A "mom" has jumped from a many-storied hotel's window with her small son in the hands. Course both were died. Some ppl. are too crazy and they have no right to have children. Perhaps she was a religious fanatic or so. :(

We had a case sort of like that in the UK a few years back and it was perhaps the only one of these cases where I actually felt bad for the mother. Her son was severely autistic and apparently she had been having real trouble coping with the day to day of caring for him. She had made it known to authorities, etc that she needed help and she didn't get what she needed. So, she held her son in her arms and jumped off a bridge and killed them both. A real reminder that no matter how crap my days can be they aren't that bad.
