Should I tip the guys installing my carpet right now?
 

Im having carpeting installed in my basement.

The installers are 2 spanish guys who barely speak english, but they're doing a good job.
They been working almost 7 hours now and will probably be another hour before theyre done.
I brought them ice water, Coke, a pizza and fries and cookies.

Should I tip them too, or is the food enough?

I'll never see them again, but I dont know if most people give them some cash, or what.

Must be a big basement ..... Yea give them 40-50 bucks to split.

Sure. I always feel like im not paying the lawn guy enough and almost double his salery in tip.

Its a fucked job and giving a tip is cool though not required. Hell throwing in lunch was nice of you.

Bet you he hired someone else and this is first time he has met the installers. Then odds are the installers are getting the smallest cut out of the job despite that they are doing all of the work.

Obviously give them a tip, who ever says no is not someone you should be listening to. As you have given them something already, the $30 in your pocket is grand.

Of course, if I tip them then they'll think Im rich and may want to come back and rob me.

Never heard of any contractor / tradesperson getting tipped for doing their job. Feeding them was enough imo.

I hired a company, they just sent these 2 guys to do the install.

If you like their work then tip them, but as a laborer I would prefer that you recommend me or offer me more work in the future..........

If they are working for themselves then fuck the tip. They should make the price the PRICE. If there were hired by antother comapany then float them the $30 or give them $10 each since you bout them pizza and drinks.

my brother does carpet for a living, and very rarely does he get tips.. in fact very rarely are the ppl around when he is working.

how much are you paying for the install? ITS THEIR JOB! If they don't speak much english the odds are they're ILLEGAL!

I tip waitresses, strippers, taxi/limo drivers, room service, and hairdressers. Fuck the rest of 'em. Including hotel doormen.

Agreed. You have to draw the line somewhere. Do I tip the contractor who built my house? Do I tip the gas attendant, even though I pumped my own gas at the self serve pumps? (he did work the cash register, after all)

If a $30 tip isn't going to make or break you and they're doing a good job, I say give away. You make two dudes day, and they go off in a happy mood doing more good work for the next guy in hopes of earning more tips. It's a good cycle if you ask me! Unless the next guy that hires them happens to be boarder control.

I worked labor jobs for a good minute.. Never got tipped and I was turning tile into hardwood.

It definitely would make their day. But then again, they are just doing what you already paid them to do.

If they did a really good job, didnt get the new carpet dirty and stretched it really well, might as well tip 'em.
