HotVaderMD 03-14-2008 05:59 AM

Well I could tell you one adversity that I never faced.....Making money for my affiliates:winkwink:

AriaGiovanni 03-14-2008 06:34 AM

As an adult, it would be the deaths of my ex's sister, step-father, father, brother-in-law and my grandfather in a 3 month period while we were on the road touring with Marilyn Manson. We didn't have time to deal with any of it properly because of the pace of the tour. That wouldn't be the worse in my life but just adulthood.

Having my father die under my hands while doing CPR was a tough one. But I have had worse. Survived them all, and the story goes on.

OK .. hmm .. 22 years ago i hit a telephone pole at 90 mph on a motocycle at the top of my bicycle racing career .. 3 years later .. I have ahead on collision instantly killing my best friend.. leaving me in a coma for 2 months and prety much crushing every bone in my body .. .. moving along .. couple years in jail for the "dangerous driving" charge .. marry a totaly fuck up and have to have her taken away by the police and doctors because she is a nut job .. lose a business over her .. moving along ..stabbed by gang fuckers .. couple days hosptialization .. couple months recovery .. then the final straw here to ..my son is diagnosed with a terminal brain disease .. and has been on chemo and other retarded medications for the last 2 years .. but he is still here .. so I am good ... and if anything i have more to work for that I ever have in my whole life ..
nice mess huh ..but it certainly gives me something to get up in the morning for .. so smile . take every day as the beginning of the rest of your life..

Anthony 03-14-2008 07:37 AM

Mine as always been facing my fears, and living my dreams.

The biggest adversity last year for me was fighting MMA. My first fight, I had the living shit beat out of me. My second, I beat the shit out my opponent.

This year I got to confront my fear of heights, while having some semblance of enjoyment.

I don't worry about money, because I always do well in that regards.

ADL Colin 03-14-2008 07:41 AM

i was homeless when i was 21 or so.

Quagmire 03-14-2008 08:00 AM

One time I was on the subway and I really had to take a shit. As luck would have it they stopped the train between stations because of another train being broken down in the station. I thought I was going to die holding it in.

It was a photo finish, but thankfully I made it to the bathroom just in time.

been in an "indefinite relationship", I actually don't know if "relationship" is the right term to used. worst thing i fell in love to that guy who had a gf (serious :() well, i know that from the start that he'll never feel the same way as i do. that's why im taking all the consequences right now. i always saw them together, waiting for each other and they look so happy. I really feel broken but i need to accept that these things will happen. im still in the process of "moving on". :( :( :(

hope i can get through....

You will..and I think a lot of us have an idea how that sort of thing feels.

However, one thing to take from this thread is how even though people have been through some really crappy things they may not forget them but they do make it through.

One thing that I have learned from my situation is that when it really comes down to it the only person you can't live without is yourself.

Man, that just happened to me too. No subway but two problems. Had to go and almost out of gas. I had less than an eighth of a tank of gas and my GPS was giving me over 26 miles to the nearest gas station going forward. I could turn around and there was one only 5 miles back. I decided to go forward and survived. Thanks to Wendy's. Gas station second.

I figured I better get as far from the crime scene Anthony and I commited in Miami as fast as possible.

Reading some of the responses here make my own trials seem so trivial. They aren't even worth mentioning. The strength of the human spirit is incredible.

SilvercashJeanette 03-14-2008 05:52 PM

Hmmm well when I was 11 yrs old, my biological mom died of cancer, then 3 months later my biological dad died of a heart attack. My bro who was 19 at the time took care of me from that point on and I became a ward of the state.

Ya, that was the worst chapter in my life thus far.

I remember your posts a few years ago ... they were very ... in french we say " boulversant " , meaning that they were ... no english word for it ....

I felt for you, and am happy to see that you have not forgotten but overcomed this tragic event ....

SilentKnight 03-14-2008 06:11 PM

My adversities in life have always paled in comparison to my wife's ongoing battle against rheumatoid arthritis and lupus.

Despite a degenerative and crippling disease that would bring most people to their knees, she somehow manages to deal with it and carries on each day in constant pain I can only imagine.

no kidding, men walking on the moon, the bottom of the ocean etc... it's very amazing the range of human experience, from rock star to bum, from saints to whores, all people.

Reminds me of a lyric...

And the same sun is shining
On the old and the young
On the saints and the sinners
On the weak and the strong
And there's a burning and freezing
And a cross for a kiss
So she learns to stop dreaming
And you know how it is
With these fragments of love
And this splintering heart

Marillion's Splintering Heart. Great song.

Thanks. It is still something I think about everyday but it used to be every minute. I am getting married again in July which feels very strange but right at the same time. I am finally feeling like I am ready for the rest of my life to happen.
