Great, I'm getting 1 Million + SPAM emails per day on an old addy
I've just checked an old email addy of mine, and meanwhile I'm getting ~60,000 emails per hour there, that's almost 1.5M SPAM emails per day!
I'm glad that I'm using SpamArrest to filter that crap, so I never ever have to look at it, but that's more than ridiculous :1orglaugh:1orglaugh |
And NO, I've never used that email to signup for anything unusual, and I've also never linked to it from any sites, or posted it anywhere.....

That means someone uses your domain for spaming.Same happened to me.I transfered domain bombared with bouncing mails and spam to another server and sudenly server start to crush. It crushed three times and i had no idea why is that happening, since there was practicly never downtime.Until support told me there was problem with emailQ i realized problem was in that domain and cpanel which automaticly redirect all unrouted mail to user mail and since it's tons of it it crushes server.Fucking spammers.

|
How long does it take you to read each one?
|
Getting near to 50,000 a day through some old addresses, spamarrest wants more money to handle em so might just shut down the addresses.

P.S. And there are almost no bounced emails in there, so I doubt that someone uses my server. But I'll have to look into it when I have a bit more spare time... |
60k an hour is insane. How old is the address? I thought 1,000-2,000 per day was bad when I retired an address after 10 years.....
|
WOW! Thats crazy!!
|
Hardly believable. You would get flagged by your host (or your free account would get suspended/terminated). The server would get clogged and that's without talking about the huge amount of disk space 1,000,000+ emails would take...
1000000/365 = 2740 emails/daily at 1.54M/day it's 562,100,000 emails per year at < 2K each (without calculating the files inode/fs journaling...) 562100000*2048 (2K = 1024b*2) = 115 1180 800 000/1024 = 1 124 200 000 ... that's over a terabytes |
