Tornado in downtown Atlanta

Anyone catching this? Crazy tonado hit Atlanta tonight, hit the cnn center even. Looks nasty, no warnings either evidently. Never saw anything like that in a large downtown city area.

Politically motivated tornado? Now THATS a negative attack ad!

But damn, what a mess down there. No reports of deaths so far anyway, hope everyone stays safe.

It was on the local news, they showed this poor guy next to his car. It was a jeep cherokee and all the windows were blown out on the right side front to back.

Lycanthrope 03-14-2008 09:53 PM

dude, have you not been watching the news?

a car windows being blown out? LOL..that was the LEAST of the shit

an entire one side of the Marriot had the entire hotels windows blown out

the Stacks loft 6th floor COLLAPSED on the 5th floor

the cnn building lost lots of it's roof, the dome also lost part of it's roof

centennial park is trashed

there is SO much fucked up

one thing I did notice though, is the lack of people hurt and the calmness that is in the air....no one is freaking out, everyone is just picking up the pieces..LOL

funny thing is, my wife and I were on our way downtown to eat at a new place when all this weather started, she didn't want to cause it was too far to drive and the storm was kicking hard (she actually mentioned tornado weather), so we just ate locally

crazy

Jace 03-14-2008 10:07 PM

haha, did you all see on the news the dude that was driving in his car when it flipped over? the guy was lauging about it after it was all said and done...he said he was just driving along in the storm and his car tilted over and landed on it's side...LOL

Oh come on now....you know us better than that....we are there 24x7x365!!! Yes, we are OK. The guys in the NOC thought that the building was falling down but all it really did was shake and rattle. Our front revolving glass door was shattered but thats really all.

Of course, the Data Center never even hiccuped ;)

Thanks for asking!!!

I got a phone call last night right in the middle of it from a friend who was down there telling me they'd just been hit by a tornado. I told him he was full of shit ;) Hopped on the net and of course, saw all the coverage.

I talked to my brother this AM and he said he was in Indy 2 years ago during the NCAA championship and there was a wicked storm - I'm thinking God doesn't like basketball!

Glad the NatNet crew is OK - I was watching all night and when I saw where it was I realized you guys weren't affected. :)

Kevsh 03-15-2008 11:09 AM

Please tell me that means no more Anderson Cooper for awhile? What an annoying little prick he is.

Miguel T 03-15-2008 11:14 AM

Damn, hope everyone is ok.

I was at Phillips Arena watching the Hawks TROMP on the LA Clippers. We were ahead over 30 points at the beginning of the 4th quarter and I almost left then.

I would have been right in the middle of the mess. But, since I never see the Hawks win like that I stayed to gloat.

My apartment is 1/2 a mile from CNN and there was only power outages there. We had rough storms again at 6am and there are more on the way now.

What a way to spend the weekend!:Oh crap

Peaches 03-15-2008 11:38 AM

I just bought my parents who are in Cobb County a weather radio a few weeks ago. Apparently when it was going off like crazy over the past 18 hours my Dad thought the fax machine was malfunctioning and didn't pay any attention to it ;)

LexiLexxx 03-15-2008 12:19 PM

So glad to hear from you guys :-)

The Hawks saved ya, Kathi!

Glad to hear the peeps in the NOC are ok too! I knew the Data Center and the offices, were right down the way from CNN, after taking the lovely tour...thanks to you guys!

Being from kansas, I know how thing's can go...I used to get freaked out when it turned all green looking outside.

xeroxas 03-15-2008 02:48 PM

sounds bad..

KILL_FRENZY 03-15-2008 04:22 PM

From I've seen looks really bad

Tom_PM 03-15-2008 04:39 PM

Good to know most people are ok and remained mostly calm, that looked like hell on tv for a while there.

MandyBlake 03-15-2008 05:55 PM
