Important Anouncement UUGallery License Holders. PLEASE READ THIS.
Over the day I've had a number of people contact me wondering what's up with their licenses not working right now. At the moment I do not officially work with UUSoftware, and I am not a partner or running the customer support for the company any more. However I am often in contact with Paul and don't mind helping people out with the script if they need it.
So here's the situation at the moment. Paul (Chariott) is away on a business trip until the 25th. It appears that sometime early today, late yesterday UUSoftware's site went down, taking down the licensing server with it. I have not been able to contact Paul as he gets limited if any internet access while he's away on work. After the site being down most of the day it didn't clue into me until just now what is going. That fucking douchebag adrotations bombed phone 'false whois reports' to ICANN on my domain, my hosts domain, and is suspected to have done the same to the domain of another adult webmasters forum where he has been openly critcized. it just now occured to me what is going on here. I am 95% sure that the fucker grabbed uusoftware.com out of my signature and sent off a false whois report regarding that domain also. With Paul being away at work I doubt if he had a chance to respond to any warnings issued or to verify his information before the domain was suspended. I'm hoping I'm wrong, but it just seems that this is the most likely scenario at the moment given the recent happenings. I'm hoping I'm wrong and that the server comes back up for the good of the license holders, but at the moment it's looking like this is the case, and it more than likely will not be straightened out until AT LEAST the 25th when Paul returns from his trip. I ask that all license holders bear with this downtime until things are sorted out. Oh, and Chuck, if I find out this had anything to do with you reporting another bullshit false whois, you can be DAMN sure I'll be calling your local police department next. |
Please keep this bumped up for me and other license holders to know about the current situation. I'll keep everyone updated on what I know of the situation regarding UUGallery. Also feel free to direct all your hatred towards [email protected] for his ignorant ass little false whois stunt which is now affecting not only, myself, other critics of his tactics, our hosts, and now each and every UUGallery license holder too...
Good Step! Thanks for helping out so far :)
bump for the day crowd. apparently cirtex hosting also decided to etract their suspension of his hosting, mos tlikely because he emailed them some bullshit boo hoo story. feel free to send them a piece of your mind regarding his attack on our service too. [email protected]
damn hope he gets it worked out..i was just firing up a round of custom posts
any news..? :Oh crap
So, is Paul going to change this script? Seems kind of ridiculous that it would even function that way to hit a license server. Just as many of you have seen, if that's down, you cant work on your site. I don't like the idea of paying for something and having this happen. If I PAY, it needs to be up - end of story. The script is pretty cool but having this makes me want to just dump it.
Did adrotations really get everyone owned?
Yeah thats not a great way to set up[ a piece of software tbh. Regardless of whatever the story behind this all is, it has put me off buying.
Who is Chuck?
yeah - I don't like the way the new licenses work...
means that we're down when he's down.... :( |
Well, yesterday I contacted Paul's registrar explaining the situation. I wasn't and am still not fully 100% sure that it was a false whois report which took the site down as I have not received a written response from the registrar, nor been able to contact Paul yet, but following the outbreak of phony false whois reports against domains of my own and associated with me I am still fairly positive. Either way the site appears to be back online as of a half hour or so ago. So hopefully everything holds together for the time being. If anyone has any suggestions as to how Paul can better the licensing system I'm sure he'd gladly listen to them, but at the moment I think that this is the best method he has for protecting his script from illicit unlicensed use.
I'd like to personally apologize to the UUGallery license holders for any inconvenience this may have caused over the past couple of days. I didn't think fucktard Chuck would go as far as to start slamming false whois reports against people and sites other than my own in our little dispute. |
Good news its up again! But its plain stupid to handle the licenses like this! Im pretty sure he didnt sell 10.000+ licenses so he should manually check them if he cant pay his hosting or what ever... just the oldschool way. The current situation is just far from beyond..
Bump, seems to be a problem again. Can't seem to do anything for the last two days.
Friendly bump for Paul to get that license system fixed. :)
Ya shouldnt rely on a server being up to use the script
Maybe they'll change it?
I haven't been able to reach the server for days now.. but he warned me on icq that he is updating the script to wp 2.5 and will be down., I haven't seen a software or script writer yet, e.g. Adobe or Comus or Smart Thumbs and so on who pulls the server down while updating their scripts.
Damn that sucks. Ive been trying to access the uugallery site since yesterday to download the demo, but if this is the way this script works Im having second thoughts.
Not again... :( I just got everything up and running perfectly. Fuck
Well seems to be working on my servers but his sites are down=.

I'll dump anything that needs to phone home for access. Just a bad business model to begin with.. "I don't fucking trust anyone! So if you want to use it, you'll need to be anal cavity searched before I'll grant access!"
Ugh. I like TGPXs way of doing it though... it fingerprints some code in the TGP layout that unique to the server license. |
No idea why is this.. I got to know Paul as a nice and helpful and responsible guy who takes care of his family and kids and has been friendly always. I liked his software also and used to have in my sig.. it is so sad.
Yes, he was always nice to me too. Oh well. I just bought the software like 3 days ago too!
Everything has been running fine for a while now. And the script does use a backup server to authenticate the licenses. The impact on license holders was not as serious as I had initially feared. The main domainw as back up within a week or so, and aside from a few license holders everything should have ran smoothly still. I'm pretty sure Paul has sorted all the issues out with all of the people I was aware of having issues at thisd time.
Mine is also back.. hopefully longer this time. And no, he did not get back to me... maybe he reads this thread?

Sorry is the functionality back yet? Mine still isn't. I know people have problems too it sucks sometimes. But a product like this should have more support if it has to call back to a server.
bump....
I have to say that uugallery uses two independent licensing servers, it works even when the main site is down and it doesn't depend on it. I have to say that the last LivePornBlog's problem was that I forgot to manually add his license and that's why it didn't worked for him. Now it was fixed and we are moving further. Nevertheless, I added an extra check for licensing service to make sure that it works great in some peak situations.
WP2.5 support has been also added. Thanks to everyone :) |
This one to the top...

Alright I was put on the second licensing server, so it looks like my license is good to go again!
Upgraded to 2.5 and that went smooth. As long as nothing else crazy like this happens again, I wouldn't hesitate to do business again. |
Paul won't ever let a customer walk away unsatisfied. Even if it means custom modifying the script for it to work with your server. I've seen him do more for people to keep them happy with his product than any other coder in my time online...
