Serious question: Do you refuse to do business with certain companies based on their interaction on the boards?

I can't say it's ever specifically come up for me, but I know I do attribute certain unpalatable qualities to certain board personalities that don't get me very interested in doing business with them.

The fact you used the phrase "certain unpalatable qualities" makes me want to be friends with you.

Seriously, thinking people rock. (not that I am one)

Having two different personalities, one for the Internet and one for "real life" is a sign of a cowardly person.

I think a person should act on a board as they do in person...But some think the internet is a cloak which gives them a pass to act like an idiot.

I don't base my business on a board rep's behavior...but it does play a big part if the ratios aren't so hot, whereas I might ask a nice/polite/knowledgeable rep for any suggestions that they may have.

Well, what if their board personality IS their real personality... and it sucks? Do you stay away from the company their personality is representing due to it's poor quality? (the poor quality of the personality, that is).

I have definitely decided not to do business with people based on how they treated people on the boards.

I really don't think you can separate the two. If you're an ass on the boards, there is a side of you that is that stinky, sweaty, hairy hole. (wow, didn't need to be that descriptive, but you get the point)

Everything you express is a piece of you. In the end, you are who/what you let surround you. If a guy is a dick on the boards, I don't want him anywhere in my life... even if he is helping me bring in bank. There are always better options!

Does it work both ways? Maybe someone is a peach online but a dick in real life. Would you again deny business with them?

I have been all things at some point in life I suppose, made many mistakes. I learned and try to treat others as I would like to be treated. In so far as business, a rude person has to live with themselves, never take it personally, its their mirror.

I would never deny someone business based on personal views they have, if it was something like Soandsoprogram.com will not work with black people then I'd say screw soandsoprogram.com, but if one of their workers said they didn't like black people (and I'm just using that as an example) then I wouldn't really care, even if the owner said he didn't like black people I really wouldn't care.

I am just myself and I treat others how I would like to be treated.
