agreed. Just don't exercise at the same level as you would if you aren't sick

The virus is already in your system, sweating is not gonna help... just rest, eat fruit and drink water

SmutGiant 04-09-2008 05:18 PM

from what I read a long time ago in some fitness book is, if the cold is only above the neck then yes it's ok to exercise, otherwise no.

MandyBlake 04-09-2008 05:28 PM

you need to rest. use all your energy to fight it

That sounds about right.

I'd think you'd want to remove as much stress from your body's metabolism as possible so it could react to a virus or infection most effectively. A Fever, for instance, is a carefully regulated increase in temperature to aid your immune system in doing what it needs to do. Increasing your metabolic rate in times such as those seems it'd just toss that balance out of whack and make the job your body's trying to do harder.

My best friend is a personal trainer.. she says as long as you don't have an upper respiratory infection it is ok to workout. But I ever feel like working out when I'm sick.

Stay home and rest. Your body needs to fight it off. Don't go to a public gym and get everyone else sick by spreading germs around especially!

I find it helps to recover from a cold, when you feel your energy levels starting to return. But I've hit the gym at the beginning of a cold before and it just made it worse, since I got more dehydrated and exposed myself to all sorts of germs from touching the equipment, etc, and overexerting myself. :( Maybe I just overdid it, though.

seems like a split decision so far.

It is just a head cold, but a nasty one. I workout at home, so no spreading the cold. I think I'll hit the bike for an hour and see what happens. This is day 3 and I feel a lot better that the last few days but still plugged up and sluggish - which I hate

When you are sick, you must rest. This is NOT an opinion.

Your body will thank you!

I'm sick as a dog right now. Fuck working out.. I'm taking some meds and going to beds. :P

NinjaSteve 04-09-2008 09:38 PM

I think you should be consistently drunk until you get better and then come back and post the results.

viencarl 04-10-2008 02:56 AM

In my case i continue going to the gym even if i have cold because it makes me feel better:):):)

EuroRev_Stacey 04-10-2008 03:37 AM
