New iMac 24" data transfer question
Hey
So I got a new iMac 24" very nice machine but I have about 55gb that I need to transfer over from an old iMac is there any other way to do it besides firewire cable? |
anyone???????

Ethernet via crossover cable, if you know what you're doing. I think Apple's built in transfer wizard only offers firewire. At least it did when I used it for 10.3 a couple years ago.

i did it with a firewire cable and 30 gig - took 3 hours :-/
but it worked fantastic - everything was done, all passwords, mail etc |
firewire is your best and safest bet..
there is also ethernet but then again id go with firewire.. 55gig will take you like 4.5 hours if you have no hicups which with a mac you won't |
Use a firewire cable... or copy to external HD.
External drive is best bet, since you should be keeping a backup copy anyway. ;) |
Like everyone else is saying, Firewire. You can grab one at Walmart if you're in a pinch.
