Bugger my first time getting scammed on ebay

I brought an xbox of a ebay seller. They had a bundle listed with games so i emailed the sellet and asked if i could just buy the xbox they said sure so i sent the cash via payal

I check the item on ebay thinking he would of ended the item instead he sold it to someone else and now he wont answer my emails.

I messaged him on my girlfriends accoutn about another item and he replied straight away

Guess its my own fault for not doing it through ebay

Least its only a small amount of cash

you can issue a dispute or whatever you call it through Paypal

karlm 04-13-2008 08:09 AM

Do you think its too soon though as it only happened yesterday but i can tell i have been scammed because he is egnoring emails and also because he sold the item on ebay to someone else

SexualDragon 04-13-2008 08:10 AM

He may be withdrawing your money from his paypal account. You won't get back the money if he withdraws all the money from his account. You better warn paypal.

karlm 04-13-2008 10:49 AM

I paid with credit card so i might have to do a chargeback

SABAI 04-13-2008 11:29 AM

mabe he had more than one xbox to sell ..... otherwise report this fucker to ebay and paypal ...

Spunky 04-13-2008 11:32 AM

Go to Paypal..I had success with issues before

camgirlshide 04-13-2008 12:09 PM

Does he have any itmes for sale cheap on ebay? If so, it could be worth buying one under a different account to get his address just in case you need it.

Report it on PayPal.com and esqualate it right away to a claim then go on paypalsucks.com and get the phone number to the PayPal resolution center reps and tell them what has happened at that you have escalated to a claim.. If you are lucky they'll jump on it right away for you.

Good luck

Can you get his details from the receiving paypal account. Do a little research and get his phone number, a call might freak him out enough to return your money.

zalka 04-13-2008 05:17 PM

I had that happen to me i reported him to paypal and paypal suspended his account till i recieved the goods.
Got the goods the following week.

karlm 04-14-2008 01:45 AM

Sarah_Jayne 04-14-2008 02:46 AM

Glad you got your money back. I have been pretty lucky with Ebay so far.

rowan 04-14-2008 03:09 AM

Just a note that CC chargebacks are not a good idea, if you chargeback against Paypal (remember they're the merchant as far as Visa and Mastercard are concerned) you're likely to get your account blocked or closed.

Make a fake ESQ letterhead. Create some legal sounding bullshit. Send it to him. He will immediately fix the problem.
