Any Mac Users Here?

Won an iMac from Pussy Cash last month and not sure what to do with it. Tempted to give it a whirl at home and use it as my home computer. Worried that it'll be tough going from a Mac at home to a PC at work.

I don't see a lot of Mac talk here and I honestly know little to nothing about their systems (although some people swear by them). Anyone have some feedback or thoughts on Macs and whether I should make the switch?

I hate mac... use to hate it even more back in college when I was taking design classes :2 cents:

It'll take a little getting used to at first but then you'll start to love it I think. Google for some sites about people switching from PC to Mac and what they had to get used to.

This site is pretty good for apps, if you need some.

I went Mac and I won't go back.

DateDoc 04-14-2008 04:37 PM

What kind of Mac is it? Want to sell it? How much?

mozadek 04-14-2008 04:55 PM

The transition from pc to mac is easy. Give it a try, you probably will enjoy the look and feel of a mac.

OTerror 04-14-2008 04:57 PM

just got an iMac 24, great computer if you dont want it send it to me!

JasonB 04-14-2008 05:05 PM

I switched to Mac back in Jan. Will never go back. My old $4k laptop PC is now a doorstop.

Probono 04-14-2008 05:06 PM

I have been using Macs for about 5 years and would not consider Windows again

okok 04-14-2008 05:07 PM

I switched a couple months ago. Been great so far. I'm a long-time UNIX/Linux/Windows user.

Shoehorn! 04-14-2008 05:39 PM

You'll tell yourself that you'll start to use the Mac, but still stick with your Windows computer, but you won't. You'll throw your Windows computer out and never look back. :2 cents:

you will get a lot more pussy with a mac. it's a pussymagnet.

So very true. I bought my first macbook pro thinking, "Hey, I can install windows on it if I need to" ... 2 years later, I own 3 macs, and don't have a windows box left in my house.

Probono 04-14-2008 06:22 PM

Once you go Mac you never go back! Apple slogan from 1970! lol

jakethedog 04-14-2008 06:38 PM

went from pc to MAC last summer and I had about a 2 week .errr learning curve .. but i have never been happier .. I look and listen to everyone around me and all their issues and problems and I haven't had so much as a hicup... i am happy and wouldn't be in any rush to go back .. pc's have their use .. but not in my life ..

DirtyDanza 04-14-2008 06:41 PM

yeah you will be mad cause you have to go back to PC... there is a reason pussycash is so HUGE and they give away macs.. take it from them macs are the shit..

teg0 04-14-2008 07:55 PM

Once you switch you'll get hooked. I didn't like macs until OS X came out though.

I do, was just being an ass.

fuhkinglou 04-14-2008 08:05 PM

I have a 20" iMac that I use with Parallels to run all my webmastery windows apps. Works like a charm for all my stats and submitting junk.

I have to deal with Windows at work and for me using Windows is like building a ship in a bottle. Madness.

Macs aren't perfect but the OS is so much nicer to use. Enjoy your new iMac!

Try using OSX, if that doesn't work for you, then install Windows, or Linux on it.

Or run Windows and OSX at the same time.

we have 7 windows machines here and we just bought a couple of Macs:

a Mac Pro 2.8 GHz Two Quad Xenon/2x1GB/320GB/SD with an Apple Cinema HD Display 23' LCD ... and a MacBook Pro LapTop ... I just unpacked them and set them up and I am looking forward to playing with them .... we will be adding another 5 Macs and keeping the 7 windows based PCs making a total of 14 ... balance is everything! :thumbsup

the next Mac we will buy will be the 8-core Quad Xeon 3 GHz whch is a 32-core beast!! $6427 is the cost of the tower in Australia but after seeing what it can do, it's well worth it!! :thumbsup

Mac as well here.. the only reason i installed XP on my Mac was to run Statsremote.. but they have a OSX version now as well (beta)

xxxfeetxxx 04-15-2008 04:03 AM

I do everything on my Macbook. I've used Macs since the MacPlus and have always loved them. The Mac version of Statsremote is great.
