Geeze, real BBQ isn't even beef - it's pork. And it's not a burger of ANY type, especially ones with no meat in them ;) What you did was GRILL, not BBQ!

What's the difference between a veggie chicken and a veggie beef burger?? Neither have either so why not just call them whatever they actually have in them (accordingly what makes them different)?

The same thing normal sausages and hamburgers have? Beef flavouring??? lol.
Normal sausages are half vegetarian already there is so much cereal in them. Thats why vegetarian hotdogs are so incredibly close to the "real" thing.. instead of a bit of offal mixed in with cereal and beef flavoured, it's just plant offal, cereal and beef flavouring. Almost no differences.. both taste the same.. one has less anuses in it. There is a reason why vege burgers and fake sausages/hotdogs "work" (although there are certain ones that don't try and taste like meat and yeah obviously those don't taste the same and are just vegetables in a pattie or sausage).
Change the comparison to a more toned down natural flavour like a fake chicken breast or something that isn't as flavoured because the natural flavour is sufficient, like bacon and you'll see the vege stuff start to taste bad in comparison. Although the chinese are actually a lot further ahead on this stuff after a couple thousand years of not eating meat and they get a hell of a lot closer than any hippy brand you'll find in the supermarket.

Hollywood Horwitz 04-22-2008 05:17 PM

damn this made me hungry, I'm going home to eat a veggie bacon BLT!

Fuck me, does everyone eat pre made patties and crap wrapped up by Oscar Mayer and named hotdogs?

I can assure you there are no fillers in my burgers nor my sausages, excluding spices.

It could be debated fairly that beef belongs in BBQ category and that such assumptions are pretty much based on state lines. Both brisket and ribs do very well in BBQ situations, which is long slow cooking (often 8-16 hours).

Spunky 04-22-2008 06:24 PM

Never had one of them ,looks alright for a change

Wagerboy 04-22-2008 07:02 PM

That isnt food. I never got the vegan thing. to each his own I guess. Your missing out on some great stuff though!

If you buy sausages from a supermarket or butchers - and i'm talking where you ask for a certain lb amount and they wrap it for you, not just the shrink wrapped stuff - unless it's specially made gourmet ones, or you make them yourself, they have filler, cereal mainly although I'm sure it differs. My grandfather used to have a pig farm and made sausages and whatnot.. it's just the way it is... do you even know how sausages are made? I've made blood sausage by hand.. it's mostly rice and pigs blood although you can use barley, oats etc. The only sausages that don't have filler are your heavy european style ones.. Bratwurst etc. Sure's it's probably not half and half but you'll find there is normally about 30% filler in any anglo sausages you buy.

bhutocracy 04-22-2008 07:57 PM

I'm going to make fish sausages the next time I get a chance... probably in an asian style.

okok 04-22-2008 08:22 PM

Three problems here:

1. This is grilling. If y'all ain't smoking it, y'all aint' barbecuing SHEEIT.

2. Vegan.

3. Vegan!

I do not buy shrink wrapped meats ever.
I also stick primarly to european style with an emphasis on spanish types.
Yes I know how they are made, I make linquica and pork sausage often.

What is vegan mayo like for fat levels? I have thought about giving it a try since I have lactose issues but I need to keep things really low fat for my dietary needs even if it is good fats.

SayWhut 04-23-2008 03:06 AM

Fuck vegetables.

G.A.F 04-23-2008 03:15 AM

Should try them someday, just to see how they taste like.
But I won't stop eating real meat. :1orglaugh

Rhesus 04-23-2008 03:17 AM

When people unconditionally reject vegetarian food I always see this as a lack of the ability to relativate things beyond just food.

justsexxx 04-23-2008 04:33 AM

Why does vegan food always look like the 'real' thing?

viencarl 04-23-2008 04:33 AM

Adultnet 04-23-2008 04:56 AM

And unconditionally rejecting meat is any differant?

420 04-23-2008 05:46 AM

I enjoy eating vegetables composed of ground beef. What is it called when you only eat meat and not any vegetables?
