Program Owners with Contests on GFY

Allow only affiliates with at least one actual sale to your program win... Lets get rid of bots and fucken contest whores...they are fucking annoying and they slow GFY down!

Out

Karupted Charles 04-25-2008 04:24 PM

Thats actually an good idea. To bad it wont keep the thread at top of page like so many programs want.

Klen 04-25-2008 05:07 PM

Well some sponsors do have such practice but not much such sponsors.

dropped9 04-25-2008 05:08 PM

You make perfect sense. Too bad it will never happen.

ronaldo 04-25-2008 05:42 PM

That would probably defeat the supposed purpose of getting new affiliates and traffic, but I like it. Whether or not they actually SEE an increase in affiliates and/or traffic is something else altogether. I guess there's enough contests running that would make me think there's something to it. Like was said, the contest whores keep the threads up top.

CurrentlySober 04-25-2008 05:48 PM

Jet it up!

BSleazy 04-25-2008 07:14 PM

Make the contest threads worth a lot more and you can't claim your prize untill you signup and send a certain number of signups. Now that would be a worth while contest.

Actually, I think that's strictly against the rules that Lensman laid out for contest threads.
At first they had people posting their affiliate ID in the threads but it was decided against that.

aico 04-25-2008 07:31 PM

most affiliates with sales don't need to win the contests or have time to watch them, and bots are what keep bumping them. Since a contest is an attempt at advertising, why would you want to stop your contest from getting bumped by bots?

sicone 04-26-2008 04:59 AM

Perhaps if the real webmasters pulled traffic from the company's who award contest whores.. then they will take notice and listen

I remember a time when Texas Dreams enforced the contest rules...

I remember a time when when I banned severs whores who were in fact the same person using many nicks in the same contests

I wonder what would happen if the mods now werent so lazy

how many of those whores would be banned again

food for thought

Iron Fist 06-24-2008 07:56 AM

Going for 50!

Vick! 06-24-2008 08:06 AM

This is a decent idea, but not practically possible. Why? Sponsors start contest not to give money to affiliates, but they start contents to keep their thread on first page, so that everyone can see it, view their promotions/offers.

Its basically like buying adspace or sticky thread. Keeping this in mind, come back with better suggestion.

Brujah 06-25-2008 06:02 AM

Vick! don't you think actual affiliates would keep the thread on the front page too? Post bots aren't required for that.

tranza 06-25-2008 09:18 AM

Bump this shit!
