I have the option of streaming movies through Netflix, but I don't do it because lame ass me thinks it's a waste of precious bandwidth.

I know the internet isn't ready for it yet. Half the time, I can barely watch a fucking 15 second video on Youtube of someone getting kicked in the nads --and the powers that be have a master plan to flood the internets with streaming 2GB copies of the latest Reese Witherspoon romantic crapfest to all of the mouth breathing cabbage-headed masses who want to pay 3 bucks a pop.

the customer is already paying for an entire new b/w infrastructure by purchasing the services from these companies.....now they will charge them again with premium b/w? hah

the hosting model will never work for isp's

Running out of IPv4 address space is a more serious problem, since you can't simply "add more" to work around the shortage. It's going to become harder to get extra IPs in the next couple of years, and if projections are correct, we'll run out in about four.

Just wait for the next implementation of NAT over HTTP v1.1, which, well, you know is the same as a NameVirtualHost, but, you know, you can stick more computers behind it! :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

Me is buying all the IPs I can possibly get a hold of and then watching THE OVER LOGGING SOUTHPARK EPISODE AGAIN!!!! :helpme

rowan 04-25-2008 09:32 PM

Don't spend too much on IP space: you don't actually have a legal title for it, so if the powers that be decide to start reclaiming unrouted/unused IP space to reallocate then there's probably not much you can do...

Remember the movement back in 1998 or so when people said you should turn off graphics in your web browser because they were going to cripple the internet? Some people thought they were doing a good deed by making text only websites, LOL.

Man, I remember 1996. It's a fine day, people open windows, and leave their houses, just for a short while.
