Do you remember the song "Alone" by Heart?

Where you even around when it came out or are you too young to remember?

It's good

https://youtube.com/watch?v=jxfdDrKO8uM

I was 9 years old when it came out in 1987 but I was already rocking to it on mtv to the hits at that age and still remember it too. I love it.

Why is it depressing? I love 80's power ballads like that. Ann Wilson has got some major pipes!

PornDiscounts-R 04-25-2008 11:36 PM

I was 12 back then and yep, it is a great song. heart has made some real timeless songs during the years :)

2012 04-25-2008 11:36 PM

I don't know. They were all wearing black ... it was dark. and she was "alone" ? I like this version though https://youtube.com/watch?v=ZonWBluPx7s

Monique Niccole 04-25-2008 11:38 PM

Heart had some kick-ass songs. I loved those girls. My favorite is "All I Want to Do is Make Love to You".

What a strange version, all fast and techno like. no i like the original, its meant to be a rock song not weirded out like that

and this is the best male version of that song

GrouchyAdmin 04-26-2008 01:16 AM

Not one of my favorites of theirs. I liked it, but it was so slow and disenchanting. I like happier music.

I'm the opposite, I like heart wrenching songs that are filled with despair and heartbreak, it has to be really dramatic and intense.

So, you're replacing AFI with Heart, then? You'll love that 'Luka' song. It's a toe-tapper about child abuse.. and you WILL dance to it. :thumbsup

For some reason I don't like that one... I like their power ballads, like "What about love" and "Stranded"...

I like intense sad songs, it has to be intense and climactic

Whats AFI?

I do remember that Suzanne Vega song Luka, it's ok but not my fave... yes it is depressing but I can't really relate to it because I was never abused as a child.

I like songs about heartbreak... one current song I like is Apologize by One Republic, I like stuff like that.

Jim Croce, Photographs and Memories, Jeff Buckley, Hallelujah, Grace, or even Lover, you should have come over. Hell, almost all of his, and a good 20% of Jim. Start with 'Grace.'

PhilR 04-26-2008 01:31 AM

Been a great fan of Heart for years... thanks for the memories! :)

That song is always on that channel I pass through when searching for random stations on the radio.

I actually like it now, when I first heard it I didn't like it, not really into country but after listening to it over and over just now I like it. The video is sad, it's about death :helpme

a lot of young people know that song now because the American Idol contestants always cover it in the competition and Carrie Underwood did a cover of it too.

yea 29.

I saw that video Hurt on mtv a long time ago but I didn't know of Johnny Cash, not into country and was kind of thinking like wtf is this.... I didn't really listen to it or give it a chance but now knowing that he died soon after making it makes the song so sad, and watching it in detail on youtube made me appreciate it more ....

its sad because he's old and he says "you can have it all, my empire of dirt".... :helpme

GrouchyAdmin 04-26-2008 04:14 AM

So, did you like them, or not? They were pretty heart wrenching, even if they generally lacked the 70s/80s rock crescendo.

DebsDeep 04-26-2008 04:43 AM

I am an 80's girl, in fact my hubby was a rocker in the 80's he was in a few different rockbands doing covers. 1987 was a good year for music. They used to do alot of motley crue, whitesnake, cinderella, poison. Wow brings back memories. The big hair days!!!

NETbilling 04-26-2008 09:21 AM

There are some great live performances you can on you tube of them doing that song and some other. I was not too hot on many girl rock bands but always thought Heart & Pat Benetar were amazing.

The Jim Croce song I didn't like to much to be honest, it was too slow and sounded more like folk music...

The Jeff Buckley song was ok, it sounded familiar, I know I have heard it somewhere but I don't recall where, perhaps in a movie or so... Was definitely depressing tho.

Grace is good, I like the lyrics... I read the lyrics from all the songs and I like the one from Grace the best...

Heart was great - and of course Canadian.

one of them married Cameron Crowe who I think wrote and/or directed Fast Times at Ridgemont High

Juicy D. Links 04-26-2008 05:42 PM
