Tax rebates start showing up in bank accounts
Monday April 28, 4:20 pm ET By Martin Crutsinger, AP Economics Writer IRS starts sending out first 800,000 tax rebates on Monday, earlier than expected WASHINGTON (AP) -- The government began depositing tax rebate checks in thousands of bank accounts on Monday as the stimulus program aimed at giving the ailing economy a jump-start got under way early. http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080428/tax_rebate.html Kick Ass! |

Cool...A stimulus package that'll put the country in even more debt!
Enjoy the checks for those who get em'. |

The whole stimulus package idea is one of the most stupid things I have heard of in a few years.
Granted, I won't send mine back if I get one, but I don't see how this will help us stop being a country full of people who live beyond their means. |

If I do get anything, it'll just go towards quarterly taxes anyways. :1orglaugh |

Probably one of the dumbest ideas he has come up with in 8 years

oh shit, I kicked it in the balls..

Just in time for $4 per gallon gas...
Much of the "stimulas" will ultimately go to the oil and credit card companies, many of which are now charging interest rates, even to on-time paying customers, exceeding 30%! Ron |
mines going to the credit card companies... They should make CC interest a writeoff at least partially.
Somebody like me who's had a good chunk of debt for a couple of years can still get away with bankruptcy if he chooses but who wants to do that? |
Mine is going to stimulate the hell out of Vegas.
|
I haven't actually gotten money BACK from the IRS in so long, I doubt I'll see this at all, but I have to ask - is $600 really going to make a stimulating difference for anyone???
|
Government giving away free money? That sounds like a dream to me.. :helpme

Fact is rich people got their tax break 7 years ago. They got the top rate reduced from 39% to 35% for someone making $500K that's a $6400 savings just on the part subject to the 35% tax rate. Why would they bitch about Joe Lunchbucket getting $600? Not to mention they got their capital gains rates cut too. |

I don't cheat my taxes, I report every cent, all of my deductions are justified, documented and are poured over by my accountants. I pay my taxes quarterly and I don't search for any tax shelters or anything like that. I also was far from rich or even comfortable 7 years ago, but I was STILL paying 30.3% with self employment and I was too dumb to take writeoffs. To top it all off, the accountants rape me for a nice chunk yearly as well... Trust me, if this rebate were helping the majority of people survive daily, I'd be all for it. Unfortunately this country has fallen into the trap of people buying luxuries that they cannot afford. Anyways, as always when you and I debate, we're way off the beaten path. My summary: The US economy won't be helping a damn thing by taking out this much money to give people a few bucks to buy LCD TV's with (yes...Sony is already seeing an increase in lcd and plasma sales based on people spending their rebates before they arrive). After it's all spent, Americans will just go right back to CC's and other means which will further sink our economy. Do you disagree? The economy would be much better off if they'd re-balance the budget and allocate spending towards other things besides defense. Maybe dump some more cash into education, law enforcement, etc. How about into Social Security so that some of us may see the money when we need it to SURVIVE. :2 cents: |
I got my rebate today direct deposit..
Woho! weekend $.. |
i havent gotten mine yet. i need it now!!!
|
i got mine today. was 680.00.
what most people don't know is how much more this money will cost us all in the long run. we will pay numerous times over what the number was that they gave us. this is not free money. save it. |
I got mine this morning. I am sure it will be gone tonight :upsidedow
