Kick Ass!

sicone 04-28-2008 01:33 PM

shermo 04-28-2008 01:34 PM

Cool...A stimulus package that'll put the country in even more debt!

Enjoy the checks for those who get em'.

BradM 04-28-2008 01:36 PM

Enjoy paying interest on that to china for the next 22 years.

We are doing it to lower the dollar further, so we can pay higher gas prices... :upsidedow

The whole stimulus package idea is one of the most stupid things I have heard of in a few years.

Granted, I won't send mine back if I get one, but I don't see how this will help us stop being a country full of people who live beyond their means.

Exactly! It's a little odd that the people who pay the most in taxes, see the least. Especially since they put the most back into the economy.

If I do get anything, it'll just go towards quarterly taxes anyways. :1orglaugh

I doubt they put the most into the economy. Bill Gates doesn't have $55 billion beause he's putting $55 billion into the economy. He as $55 billion because he doesn't spend his money. Bill Gates probably spends on average a MUCH less % of his net worth yearly than the average American.

baddog 04-28-2008 06:44 PM

Probably one of the dumbest ideas he has come up with in 8 years

Yes for inflation! Yes for higher taxes and debt down the road! Thank you Bush for leaving my children with a pile of shit!

Ok..Let me rephrase... Individuals making $200k+. They spend a higher % of their income than a multi BILLIONARE.

tony286 04-28-2008 07:02 PM

its such a waste, they should of made cc interest a write off again made it retro active. It would done more than these checks.

MattO 04-28-2008 07:02 PM

Looking forward to buying a full tank of gas. Yay.

doubt it... someone making 20k/year, spends pretty much 100% of their income, people making 200k+ save/invest good chunk of their income....

Ya, but who pays more to the gov? The person in the smaller tax bracket who's probably living on government grants, etc...Or the person in a higher tax bracket who may be providing jobs, purchasing taxable items (homes, cars, etc), making donations, traveling, etc?

Person making more will probably pay higher percentage of their income in taxes... though I thought we were discussing who "spends" more? But either way, doesn't matter, we are probably on the same page, just got little confused by the phrasing used...

Bojangles 04-28-2008 08:10 PM

I was talking about a combination of spending and tax payments. We're def on the same page. I guess I'm not too articulate today. :1orglaugh

RyuLion 04-29-2008 08:50 AM

oh shit, I kicked it in the balls..

Ron Bennett 04-29-2008 10:44 AM

Just in time for $4 per gallon gas...

Much of the "stimulas" will ultimately go to the oil and credit card companies, many of which are now charging interest rates, even to on-time paying customers, exceeding 30%!

Ron

farkedup 04-29-2008 11:28 AM

mines going to the credit card companies... They should make CC interest a writeoff at least partially.

Somebody like me who's had a good chunk of debt for a couple of years can still get away with bankruptcy if he chooses but who wants to do that?

Brother Bilo 04-29-2008 11:31 AM

Mine is going to stimulate the hell out of Vegas.

Spyce 04-29-2008 11:37 AM

I haven't actually gotten money BACK from the IRS in so long, I doubt I'll see this at all, but I have to ask - is $600 really going to make a stimulating difference for anyone???

Basic_man 04-29-2008 11:40 AM

Government giving away free money? That sounds like a dream to me.. :helpme

So who gives a fuck? I'm not worried about people that make $200K or more. They certainly aren't worried about me. People making $200K should be doing fine. If not they need to take a class on money management.

You need to get the fact that if you paid much lower taxes then the money would have to be paid by the millions of por peole who can't afford it and that will totally ruin the economy. If you are successful then it's because you live in America not N Korea and it takes a lot of money to run America. If the communist had taken over America would you be suscessful? No. Nothing is free, especially freedom.

Fact is rich people got their tax break 7 years ago. They got the top rate reduced from 39% to 35% for someone making $500K that's a $6400 savings just on the part subject to the 35% tax rate. Why would they bitch about Joe Lunchbucket getting $600? Not to mention they got their capital gains rates cut too.

I'm not talking about anything being FREE...For fucks sake man..I pay 48.3%. 33% + 15.3 for self employment. I don't know of many of my friends paying anywhere near that much, nor do I know of any of my friends who do not GET BACK money during tax season. I'm not talking about my friends in this industry, but my friends in the outside world.

I don't cheat my taxes, I report every cent, all of my deductions are justified, documented and are poured over by my accountants. I pay my taxes quarterly and I don't search for any tax shelters or anything like that. I also was far from rich or even comfortable 7 years ago, but I was STILL paying 30.3% with self employment and I was too dumb to take writeoffs. To top it all off, the accountants rape me for a nice chunk yearly as well... Trust me, if this rebate were helping the majority of people survive daily, I'd be all for it. Unfortunately this country has fallen into the trap of people buying luxuries that they cannot afford.

Anyways, as always when you and I debate, we're way off the beaten path. My summary: The US economy won't be helping a damn thing by taking out this much money to give people a few bucks to buy LCD TV's with (yes...Sony is already seeing an increase in lcd and plasma sales based on people spending their rebates before they arrive). After it's all spent, Americans will just go right back to CC's and other means which will further sink our economy. Do you disagree?

The economy would be much better off if they'd re-balance the budget and allocate spending towards other things besides defense. Maybe dump some more cash into education, law enforcement, etc. How about into Social Security so that some of us may see the money when we need it to SURVIVE. :2 cents:
