LOS ANGELES - Vivid Entertainment has announced its most unusual celebrity porn star to date: Jimi Hendrix.

"Jimi Hendrix: The Sex Tape" will premiere today online at www.hendrixsextape.com, with a DVD edition scheduled to hit stores across the country on May 6. Shot in a hotel room circa 1968, the film purports to show Hendrix in "an erotic liaison with two slender brunettes."

As a huge Jimi Hendrix fan, I am insulted that Vivid would try to exploit Hendrix's fame in this way, whether it is really him in the movie or not. :disgust

I am surprised if his estate actually permitted the use of his image or name (assuming it is trademarked), in this manner.

In it’s latest shameless attempt to capitalize on the celebrity sex tape horse shit, (Toasty Toof? Please…) Vivid has decided that it would be a good idea to release a “sex tape” of what is supposed to be Jimi Hendrix.

Whether it actually is or not is very suspect his face appears for less than 2 seconds and his eyes are shut. It was shot on 8mm film a very very long time before 99% of the current crop of porn chicks were even born, (Hendrix has been dead for 38 years)

But lets assume it actually is Hendrix, does anyone actually care? would anyone even WANT to see it? The liklihood that it is even remotely watchable is slim indeed….remember what a fucked up job Vivid did with the Kim Kardashian video?

But at least The Hirsch family wont have to worry about being sued, Hendricx is dead, you can say anything you want about dead people, theres nothing to defame there. Remember that Steve Hirsch. There is a big difference - Paris signed off on her sex tapes, and has profited from them.

If there was no model release and 2257, and her videos were being released for the commercial gain of others without her consent, you can be sure that she could have sued big time and had the sell of the videos halted.

If she hadnt signed the papers the video would still be out there, it would instead of being in a somewhat controlled envirement as a "pay video" from a very agressive copyright holder be all over the net.
Look at the amount of stolen content that is all over the net, and think again if you would think it would just go away if she said no. If it was that easy we wouldnt see endless discussions about filesharing, tube sites etc etc :2 cents:

As I see that it is mostly my fellow ol' timers criticizing this I feel compelled to weigh in on this...

I never saw Hendrix but I am a fan and have seen the documentaries and his performances in things like Monterey Pop, Woodstock, etc. and the one thing I come away with is that Hendrix was a sexual person, he was a free spirit, and he liked to be watched and in my opinion that is the kind of person that makes an amateur sex tape for all the right reasons.

He was exactly the kind of person that would question the morality of saying "sexuality is taboo". Come on, he willingly and enthusiastically let his ERECT PENIS be casted for posterity. If you look at the trailer then you can see someone else is present holding the camera. To me, those are all clues, albeit circumstancestial ones, that point to the distinct possibility that he would be totally groovy with this. Remember he was all about being counterculture. He was pro-drug. He was pro-sex. He was rock and roll through and through.

If you, my esteemed peers, think that it is profane to publish that footage then you are of course entitled to your opinions, but I say here and now, with my freak flag waving high, that I think it is pretty cool and way far out and I dig it!

You know I love you Farrell, but I have to respectfully disagree - Jimi Hendrix was many of those things you say, however if he was filmed, it was for his own private collection, and not for Vivid's profit.

Many people videotape themselves, but that does not mean that they want it to be for public consumption.

Following the death of Al Hendrix (Jimi's father) in 2002, the Jimi Hendrix estate has been in disarray, which might explain whatever deal Vivid has to use Jimi's name and legally produce their supposeded sex video of Hendrix (whether it is legit or not - they seem reluctant to show more that a few seconds of the person purported to be Hendrix, and the music on the site is a pale imitation of Hendrix - not Hendrix music).

If Jimi Hendrix himself authorized the release of the video, I would have no problem with it, but the Vivd tape to me is exploitation, plain and simple.

Personally, I prefer to remember Jimi Hendrix this way - as one of the greatest guitarists ever:

All of those things seemed to be true about him, or at least what he wanted everyone to believe. However, to exploit him and have a porn company SELL that tape is as about as lame as it gets. If Jimmy wanted to sell it, he would have sold it. :2 cents:
