ztik 04-29-2008 03:02 PM

Well all of those companies were really bad..

Sharper image was the only one that kind of suprises me

CherryLipsRosa 04-29-2008 03:11 PM

First are you kidding? They really did suck and only cared about selling expanded warranties.

On side note I thought blockbuster or someone just bought them.

Circuit City bought Radio Shack and now they're out of biz too? Sheesh.

I am surprised by Linens & things. I thought that was an off-brand of a bigger store, much like Winners.

SuzzyQ 04-29-2008 03:16 PM

We prefer Best Buy for the simple reason that the employees at Best Buy do not get a commission.

Sly 04-29-2008 03:17 PM

I always thought Circuit City was overpriced.

aico 04-29-2008 03:18 PM

Doesn't necessarily mean they will be closing.

mona 04-29-2008 03:19 PM

I'm sad about Sharper Image...They had so many cool, albeit mildy useless, gadgets.

Have a link? I've been reading Circuit City has been waiting for Blockbuster to buy them

mike-al 04-29-2008 03:20 PM

The Best Buy over here forces employees to sell warranties for commission...

Best Buy use to be good, now its a retail high price store with less product than ever
and omg the line waiting is ridiculous, average checkout time is like 25 minutes..
You stand there and watch 1-2 cashiers work slowly and 15 employees all around them doing nothing. God forbid someone has a BIG TV, or a computer in front of you

BradM 04-29-2008 03:20 PM

Neither does Circuit city, non com for 5 years or so.

I like Best Buy better. Circuit city sucks ass.
linens n things is a cool store, too bad.

Didnt they have that same old 10% best price 30 day guarantee like everyone else?

If I shop around, it's online. When it comes to stores, I don't bother with that stuff.

I bet most of them will stay open... restructure.

slapass 04-29-2008 03:31 PM

I was surprised at Levitts. Who is there big competitor that was hurting them?

Exactly. Very cool shit, but more or less useless, with a high price tag. Doesn't really work when folks start going to Walmart or Target for the same stuff.

fuzebox 04-29-2008 03:35 PM

Aww, I liked Linens and Things.

That's just the beginning, many more will go under, as more and more people choose to shop online....

evildick 04-29-2008 03:50 PM

I can't find a link anywhere that says Circuit City has filed bankruptcy. Just talk of a possible sale to BlockBuster, although Blockbuster has yet to prove they have the cash.
