Crest whitening strips... HURT!
I've been whitening my teeth for a week and this morning my teeth hurt like a motherfucker. Too thumbs down to the pain. Two thumbs up to my teeth looking whiter in just 7 days.
|
Glow in the dark white or just white?
|
it hurts a lot, it can give you a headache too. it helps to take painkillers beforehand like advil etc. that's the price of beauty, there is always a price.
It makes your teeth sensitive, its the carbamide peroxide, it will even hurt if you blow air or get a whiff of air on your teeth. It's a TERRIBLE feeling. I heard Zoom also hurts A LOT, people have shooting pains for a few days afterwards, its intense but you have to bear it if you want to be beautiful. Personally I like teeth that are HOLLYWOOD WHITE like Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson, the perfect Hollywood white color, it has to be EXTREMELY white. Not whiteness that can be achived by brushing 4x a day, but extreme whiteness that requires either laser bleaching or veneers. I like it super super white. Not "normal people white" but "celebrity white" |
heheh mine are nicottine yellow...but at leat they don´t hurt..
|
I've used them.. but what works the best is generic CVS ones.. trust me
|
They're not meant to be used as an anal bleach kit.
|
Don't leave them in that long. I use them while I'm in the shower(so I can spit) and I take them out directly after I get out. 10 to 15 minutes at the longest.
believe me, it works just the same at the shorter times -- and it does work like motherfucker. It's probably one of the only things I've ever purchased that works as advertised. |

For what its worth..I did a 'course' of them and didnt notice shit. Aside from the pain that is. I think it's only $200 or so to have it done right at the dentist. :thumbsup |

You'd be just as good to start gargling/swishing with hydrogen peroxide, you know. That's all there is encapsulated within the gel.
$0.50-$0.99/bottle, and it will last at least a month. P.S. Don't drink it. |

if it hurts too much you can use one strip every other day. The strips that work in 7 days are stronger than the regular ones and tend to cause more sensitivity. It feels terrible when you use them, I remember it making my teeth ache and giving me headache too, I was kicking the bed trying to sleep, unable to sleep because of it actually. Some people don't get sensitive though, every person is different. |
When the pain gets bad just remind yourself that it is only self-inflicted pain for the sake of vainness, it's not because you have a disease and are going to die. And make yourself feel better by telling yourself that other people are going through even MORE painful procedures due to vainness such as boob jobs, nose jobs etc.
also buy SENSODYNE toothpaste, it MIGHT help, might not help, but it wont hurt to try, it might ease the pain a bit. http://www.google.com/search?client=...=Google+Search Look at what one person wrote on another site: "As the commercials show, the strips are really convenient to use. I used them while I chatted on the internet with my online friends. But the second time I used them, it hit me ---intense pain. I felt a shooting pain in my mouth that was worse than when my wisdom teeth were infected. It was so painful, I felt light-headed and dizzy. I couldn't imagine what the problem might be as I had never heard of anyone having this problem with the whitening strips. I removed them and brushed my teeth to remove the gunk that the strips leave behind. Immediately, the pain went away. Feeling brave, I tried the strips again two days later. And it happened again---intense pain. I contacted my dentist office and they said that some people are sensitive to the whitening agent in the strips. Sensitive? I was so far passed sensitive that the suggestion was laughable." and "I got through day two of the Premium strips, then woke up at 3am in pretty bad pain. I didn’t know it was the strips! So I actually went to our dental clinic out here and wasted their time on accident. The pain made me cry, which is embarrassing. I think the side-effects in the packaging are amusing: “mild sensitivity.” Ha. that’s like “mild discomfort” when you get staples in your stomach. they should be more realistic with the warnings - i wouldn’t have bought them. I hear the pain is due to chemicals in the gel irritating the nerves inside teeth. it’s temporary and has nothing to do with the enamel… not the pain part, anyway. Yeesh. It’s the end of the day… still waiting for the pain to subside, Aspirin notwithstanding." and "I am on day three of the 7 day Crest White Strips, I am so glad to see I am not the only one with this pain!!! I have had lot of dental work done in my life (braces, retainers… etc.) and I have never felt this kind of pain, is it normal to feel your friggen heart throbbing through your teeth?!?!!! I have even tried some tylenol 3’s I had left over from my wisdom teeth… this is ridiculous!! The even crazier thing is I can’t believe the unbelievable difference in my teeth, the color change is so dramatic, like night and day, thay are going to be so white, that is if I am not suicidal by the end of the week!!! haha! I trying to tell my self this is worth it, but this is crazy!! I am taking everyone’s advice and buying the sensodine, I hope it works!!" |
it cant be good
|
also, do NOT brush your teeth right before you use the strips, that will make it worse!
and buy sensodyne toothpaste and space out the strips, use them once a day or once every other day or once every 2 days, whatever ur teeth can handle |
everything comes at a price - life 101

how are ur teeth doing today?

I tried wearing them before my wedding so I could look good for those photos. The first night hurt so bad I couldn't eat all day. It felt like my teeth were exposed roots. I can't believe how bad it hurt.

I can't believe the box says "you can use the strips back to back"! Ouch.
bausch - Thanks for sharing your experience. Some of those quotes from other sites made me laugh, but there's a lot of truth in them. I haven't gotten any headaches but the shit hurts. At least it's not a boob job or nose job or calf implants or something like that. ("self-inflicted pain for the sake of vainness" is the best! lol!)
The good thing is the strips cover 6-8 teeth on the upper and bottom portion so you're good to use your back molars for chewing but that's tough to do constantly. Something else I noticed... my teeth are whiter and it's noticeable. But when I look in the mirror I see that there's a bit of yellow between my teeth. So now when I put the strips on I'm going to go slow and use my fingernail to push them slightly in between each space in hopes of making contact with what's visible to others. |
I'm using Crest Whitestrips Classic (14 Days)
Using your fingernail to push them into the spaces of your teeth was suggested on a few sites I read too. |
I've used them for a month, never hurt at all

I got my teeth whitened about 3 years ago, I drink a lot of coffee and used to smoke a bit so my teeth were getting stained. after I got it done, I couldnt even breathe out of my mouth for a week, I was in so much pain. I thought something happened, but the doctor told me I have sensitive teeth and some whiteners, including OTC ones eat through the enamel and layers of your teeth. sucked but my teeth were sparkling white for a while :winkwink: |

I've had a box of that shit here for a year or two. I took them on my recent 6-month jaunt to Asia and of course I still haven't used them. They are literally gathering dust. Sticky dust. I think I need to clean my Crest Whitestripes box with soap. Life sucks. :( |
When I've had teeth whitening before the dentist gave me a flouride gel to put on my teeth for the first few days afterward.
The whitening agents open up the outer layer of enamel for a while. The flouride return it to normal. What I used was Colgate Phos-Flur gel. I know they make an over the counter flouride rinse under the same name. PK |
Over the counter flouride rinse....ACT. Rinse for at least a minute after you bleach your teeth (or more if needed). It should help with the pain. And definitely use Sensodyne toothpaste.
|
At least you get white teeth so all that pain might be worth
|
If it hurts it might not be the healthiest thing to do....
