question about thermostats

the one i have right now either heats or cools, it doesnt maintain both.

ie it will heat up to 79 degrees but if it gets hotter to 85 for instance, it wont turn the a/c on until i flip the switch to cool

are there any that maintain both hot and cold? it gets very cool at night and hot during the day here, so this is a problem

suggestions?

thanks

Thermostats are pretty cheap. Go out to Lowe's and look at the selection. Tons of them for under $70.

thats whats so crazy, i just went to home depot and out of all they had, the guy told me they didnt have any that did that. you would have to set them all to heat or cool, and they would only heat or cool up/down to the temp you programmed in

made no sense to me

That's kind of strange... I swear mine does exactly what you are asking. It did it all winter and it actually drove me crazy until I figured out how to work it properly, LOL. It had a feature called "auto" I believe.
