Question for Video Editors...

I want to know what the best software/program is for cutting up video that is already edited/encoded. Thanks!

Jay-Rock 05-11-2008 10:18 AM

boilsoft splitter is the way if your just cutting up already encoded videos

Brad Gosse 05-11-2008 11:17 AM

videocharge is what you are looking for I think

DirtyDanza 05-11-2008 11:22 AM

there is only 1 program you will need

Final Cut

DBS.US 05-11-2008 11:26 AM

We only use Final Cut Pro:thumbsup

mikesouth 05-11-2008 11:27 AM

Final Cut = overpriced crap

Vegas video

But if you are only cutting already encoded video and you dont need transitions/effects watermarks etc go with boilsoft splitter.

MandyBlake 05-11-2008 02:47 PM

i'm going with tony and mike on this one. boilsoft splitter is great. you can divide a video pretty much however you want.
i use it for all my mgp galleries.

peedy 05-11-2008 08:28 PM

I use Final Cut on Mac and Vegas on PC

Lotta you guys gotta work on your reading comprehension for crying out loud instead of hitting reply as fast as possible and calling out Final Cut or Adobe like you were football toughs cheering for you favorite team at a game. You sound like nincompoops...

Anyway, to cut up "already edited and encoded video" you probably want Boilsoft Splitter or Videocharge.

What Tony said. This is a small, fast and cheap little piece of software that you will figure out in 30 seconds or less. This is what I use to chop all my already made videos.

You can cut in chunks (tell it to cut the video into equal parts) or cut by time code.

Now please post a pic of your incredible body as a token of your thanks.

somec 05-12-2008 02:01 AM

videocharge:thumbsup

WiredGuy 05-12-2008 02:05 AM

If you're just looking for cutting videos and the ability to script / automate batch jobs for breaking the videos up, Video Charge will do.

Boilsoft Video Splitter

Jelena Jensen 05-12-2008 09:45 AM

Thanks to everyone that posted! I went with Boilsoft Video Splitter...does EXACTLY what I needed! I know about all the big editing software but since the vids are already edited/encoded I wasn't needing to re-encode or anything of that nature. Just wanted to equally split up vids and Boilsoft does exactly that! Thanks again everyone for all the suggestions!

Oh...and DirtyWhiteBoy...since you asked nicely...here's a new photo of me that hasn't even gone out on my site yet! ;)

Hey Jelena --

If all you want to do is cut up long videos into smaller clips, then for the Mac I would recommend Quicktime Pro. For PC / WMV -- I would recommend just using Windows Movie Maker.

Boilsoft is awesome for both spliting and joining already compressed video. Jelena is better though!
