MS IE is really starting to be a joke for web browsing...

So I have my designer customize a popular Wordpress theme for my new blog at http://JimGunn.com and although it looks beautiful in Firefox, the flash animation doesn't match the background in the header in IE 6 like it does in Firefox, and the footer somehow ends up at the bottom of the right panel under my bottommost widget. I also noticed a few other Wordpress themes I tried before this didn't work in IE 6.0 at all, according to the designers notes and my installation.

Used to be years ago that sites of various designs look right in IE but not so much in Mozilla or Opera, now it is the opposite! Hopefully my designer can fix these little quirks somehow!

maybe start by blaming the designer...

Failed validation, 131 Errors

Designers have always hated IE.

You have to implement hacks into the css to make it look right in IE.

Also not sure why you would want tables in that code?

Just figured out what your problem is. IE 6 doesn't have support for png file images. What then happens is it greys out the transparency on a web page, which is contained in that image for your background. Hence making it lighter. Either gif or jpg it up or use the png hack for ie:-

If I were you, just gif it and make a repeating horizontal image.

But of course, your designer should have already known that. :)

It's still working right in IE just your designer is designer is designing it wrong :1orglaugh
He should design for IE and not those other browsers then it will work right.

Ok thanks for the feedback, I will have him look it over tomorrow and fix it up.

that's the only way to go :)
I always make seperate stylesheet for IE6 and all the stupid things in it...

Always remember IE6 might be a joke but it's roughly 30% of your potential costumors who will see your site as the joke through IE.

Alway optimize for IE6, IE7, FF and Safari. Maybe Opera if you wanna go extreme.

You do realize that IE 7 has been out for almost a year in a half now and they already have IE 8 out in beta. Do you thin MS is going to make inprovement to IE6? might as wll complain about IE 5 or fricken Netscape.

internet explorer is the windows of the web browser world... HORRIBLE, doesn't work right yet too many people are too stupid to use anything else

IE works fine.

It's FF u have to hack all the CSS for, they say they follow the specs but more often
then not they interprete them differently just to be cool and different.

Start your design in IE then fix it for FF, least then you'll be designing for what surfers
have instead of what webmasters use. You'll save hours.

IE6 is still a big chunk of today's traffic. It is something we need to be worried about as webmasters.

1 Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.0 42.32 %
2 Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 27.70 %
3 Mozilla 1.0/Netscape 6.x 18.34 %
4 Safari 2.93 %
5 Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 0.87 %
6 Opera/9.27 0.47 %

If you are referring to me, yes, I like the colors and the the Flash in the header and the general design. We basically modified an existing Wordpress theme. The rest of it still has to come together a bit to look finished. My designer is off for the weekend in fairness so he didn't get a chance to finish fixing it up.

This isn't a general porn blog, it's focused specifically on my own work as a porn director and especially my own company's porn movies and goings on, so it's going to look a little different than the average blog a webmaster makes I suppose. What don't you like about it other than that it's temporarily displaying screwed up in IE?
