Man U, very lucky.......

Played defense the entire Champions League....when it's your year you can win anything.

one slip and that was it..

Guess what - I immediately KNEW Ch. Ronaldo is going to miss as well as Anelka is going to miss..

Those super prima donna players always miss..

Cristiano Ronaldo proved once again that when there are important games he is not the man to count on, beside the Goal ( great header) he has not been seen on the pithc for the entire game.

IN Premier League everybody can score , outside the premier league not so easy......

Watched it last night on the replay.. have to say it was a pretty good match. One question though.... why was the European Championship being played in Moscow? (Yes, I don't follow it that closely).

Man U pretty well owned the first half. It looked like Chelsea was afraid to press the ball much past midfield. The Chelsea goal was a very good attack followed by a lucky break. Van Der Sel just about had his hands on the ball even with his slip and fall.

Chelsea on the other hand was much better in the 2nd and the overtime, with Man U being just OK.

The PKs are an annoying way to end a game I think, but that's the way the rules go. Chelsea should have won it on those. That boot off the post had us falling off our seats. If you were to compare misses, Ronaldo's was just a bad shot and probably would have been waved off had he scored (that little stutter he did... my dad's a former ref and said that was a big NO NO). Terry on the other hand, had the right corner, had a good shot.... slipped and still almost made the shot. That was tough, especially with them losing minutes later.

All in all a great game to watch.

C. Ronaldo is also the top goalscorer in the Champions League... :2 cents:

Must be even easier to score in Europe, 5 of the top 6 goalscorers of the CL are from the premiership.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo Man. United
2. Steven Gerrard Liverpool
3. Fernando Torres Liverpool
4. Lionel Messi Barcelona
5. Didier Drogba Chelsea
6. Dirk Kuyt Liverpool
7. Ryan Babel Liverpool

what is this thread about?

kowalsky 05-22-2008 10:16 AM

Yes, Man U was lucky, but Chelsea is always austere. I really hate teams that play so scary, trying to fight instead of playing. Man U is not the greatest sample of lyrical game, but at least present a more ofensive way to play.

christian ronaldo is easily the best player in the world now, and the premier league is the best league in the world.

how much did that Drogba red card hurt? the idiot needs to learn to control his anger...if he wasnt sent off Terry would prob not even have had to take a penalty...but that said I hate Chelsea and for me the lesser of the 2 evils won...

Best final since the liverpool milan classic.

RP Fade 05-22-2008 11:44 AM

I think both teams got lucky and unlucky..so many shots off the cross-bar, crosses, headers, etc headed for the back of the net that were missed. The slippery pitch condition didn't help either..

John Terry did choke..but then like someone said, who knows what would have happened it Drogba didn't bitchslap Tevez.

It was a good game..I just hate Penalties to decide something as big as the CL final. I really think UEFA/FIFA should make the final of any championship sudden death.

I dont like man u, but they have been great this year, and were better than Chelsea last night.

C. Ronaldo had a GREAT game. He toyed w/ Essien down the line at times. Essien did play him tough though. The only mistake C. Ronaldo made was missing that PK. He needs to quit that stutter step shit and just put it in the back of the net. I wonder if he learned that from Figo, while w/ the Portugese Nat Team.

My Boys from Man City are in the UEFA Cup next year!

Nice way for Drogba to end his Chelsea career ;) I think it is time for Chelsea to take out the garbage -- get rid of Sheva, Anelka, and put Ballack on notice as well.

My ideal outcome for the Champions League final would have had both teams losing :)

I have been waiting since 99 for this. We all have.

Kudos to Sir Alex, Rooney, Giggsy and all of the Reds for showing such heart.

I still think Chelsea was the best team in England since 08 began.

I feel for their coach and captain.

But for those of us who love United...YES YES and YES

Ronaldo is like Geezky and Bird, you CAN'T always see them.

They move in their own universe. Ronaldo played a strong 2 way game yesterday.

This in mind, I love United but am new to the game. As a result I could feel Chelsea's heartbreak, the owned Man U for much of the game, had two posts in the second half, and such is the way it goes.
