Who has another real life job? which brings you more money?

just curious how many of you are also lawyers, managers, teachers, pastors, etc. I work for a PR company and had made more money in my spare time in the adult business in the last 7 years than in my original job!

Fucksakes 05-26-2008 08:14 AM

I help my brother once in awhile just to get me outta the house.. I don't do it for extra money thou.

Nismo 05-26-2008 08:16 AM

You mean, which one of us are french fry technicians, sandwich artists and cash register professionals?

IllTestYourGirls 05-26-2008 08:19 AM

I own a small construction company but things are slowing and this is a nice supplement.

Peaches 05-26-2008 08:21 AM

After being full time in adult for 13+ years I've been branching out to mainstream and hopefully my adult sites which are still bringing in money with no work for me, will eventually die a slow death ;)

I've been dabbling in RE for a few years (and that's where I've made most of my money) and am in the process of buying a brick and mortar business/store. I've done some other mainstream stuff that either bored me, frustrated me or were going to take too long to bring in the money I need to pay the bills, lol.

And I babysit for my adorable nieces but that brings in joy, not money :)

The Duck 05-26-2008 09:21 AM

I am working fulltime in adult and mainstream online business.

ScriptWorkz 05-26-2008 10:33 AM

I'm online pretty much all day every day, i write code for a mainstream web based company on the daily 9 - 5, just starting to get my own sites up to supplement that income.

polle54 05-26-2008 10:56 AM

I work as a web coordinator and programmer for a smaller company making around $45/hour... that is more than I make in adult.

tammix 05-26-2008 01:08 PM

interesting, it all depends in part -i see- on your lifestyle expectations and demands
most of my friends of my generation are now working extra hours, in the weekends and getting second jobs to afford their cars, vacations, houses, etc. And with the kids going to college soon, maybe get ever a third job!!

After Shock Media 05-26-2008 01:13 PM

Tammix I must say your sig really gets under my skin.

Maybe your friends need to stop spending beyond their means.

No, I'd say lifestle expecations don't have anything to do with it. It sounds like your friends aren't very creative. If you can make enough online to "supplement" your 9-5 dayjob, then you should be able to make infinitely more than that by focusing the same amount of time as you would at your job. An online business is about multiplying your resources instead of just being paid per hour.

I couldn't make more doing nothing in real life.

What's wrong with being a sandwich artist? What I learned being a sandwich artist has helped me immensely with website design!

We all know it is a running sheep joke and all. Hell the is a large number of people here who would not even qualify to be a fry cook let alone work a register that has images instead of numbers on it.

i sell oranges on the offramps of expressway

kektex 05-26-2008 04:43 PM

I´m an electrical engineer in substations.
I´m making almost three times as much online than I make in my real job, even though I only spend around 5 hours a week webmastering. But it´s not enought to make me want to quit my day job yet.

I know once I start spending more time with online activities and I start making more I´ll probably quit my day job, but I like it so I´m not in a big hurry.

SoloGirlsContent 05-26-2008 04:46 PM

I'm a writer/comic book artist as well as screenwriter

Same for me, electrical engineer. I have a day job in this field, but still work on my adult venture. :thumbsup

I dunno if i could quit my job as pr, once you make more money you want the next level in cars, in clothes, etc. But I guess there should be a balance, for sure I know that when you start living in another level $$ you begin to loose other things as the simplicity of life itself (not to mention you get more things to worry about).

I have to admit that making that extra money has been a huge temptation and I want more and more, but I have managed to save most of it and put more of it back in to my business.

The only treats I have bought for myself recently are a pair of Nike shoes, some t-shirts and an ipod :winkwink:

I live off the money I make in my day job and save the rest. I am actually looking to invest on some index funds or something (I dont know anything about the stock market, just read that index funds are the safest way) , but since Iīm not in the US I havenīt found a way to do so.

Your online business should get to the point that you actually should treat it as a day job. Get up early, put in some hours at work instead of goofing off. But the fact that you donīt have to answer to anyone else but yourself is the biggest benefit. Maybe my future wife and kids but thatīs still a long way off...

SuzzyQ 05-26-2008 07:14 PM

My husband and I both work in the television industry as managers. We do adult as a hobby and for some extra cash.

Barefootsies 05-27-2008 07:14 AM

Adult/online is my full time gig. It has been for I wanna say 4-5 years now maybe? Before that, was doing it on the side while working in telco. Did that for about 7-8 years.

JamesK 05-27-2008 07:23 AM

I sell my ass now and then and sometimes I teach tango to 12 year old boys for extra dough

Err I think you've got it backwards... You quit your dayjob you can reach the next level in cars, clothes, etc... Working 9-5 for someone else you'll never get there.

sniperwolf 05-27-2008 09:29 AM

I basically work with a web design company. That's it.

kektex 05-27-2008 11:47 AM

Goofing off on my day job here hehe...
Any other Electrical Engineers?

Nismo 05-27-2008 11:52 AM

I've been Full Time at selling porn on the interwebs since I was 18 back in 2000. Haven't ever had a "real job", but now im looking for one, since I have freetime and im trying to get some experience in another realm of the real world. However, I know i'll always make more money doing online shit and working for myself. Im just chalking it up as an experience and another chapter in my life.

ronbotx 05-27-2008 08:32 PM

I make a 6 figure income as an IT consultant to the feds, which has continued for the last 5+ years. I work mostly on ASP.Net apps.

I originally got into adult as a filler for when I was between contracts. Still keep my domains up and active but not putting much time into it any more.

Spunky 05-27-2008 08:36 PM

I'm a Millwright by trade and have been working for the man for over 20 years.I had to rely on my hands cause there wasn't the internet way back then

GrouchyAdmin 05-27-2008 08:40 PM

If it makes money, I'm interested. I make my primary PR on administrative work, but I wear many hats.

rowan 05-27-2008 09:08 PM

The last real life job I had was in 1996 when I was assembling computers. I can't imagine working 9-5 for 250 days a year.

Bro Media - BANNED FOR LIFE 05-27-2008 09:25 PM

I'm a cook at a sports bar and grill, and I love it, went out and got a day job doing what I like to do because sitting at this fucker for 16 hours a day, 7 days a week was killing and burning me out, now I'm so much more motivated to do shit its not even funny.

Angry Jew Cat - Banned for Life 05-27-2008 09:30 PM

I've been doing online solely for a few months now. I've got things basically on autopilot and only do an actual couple hours of work a day. a large part of my online income comes from design work, which is an ignorant bitch to do. i'm sick of clients, and sick of getting fucked over. i was offered a position at a company i worked for a couple years back and agreed to go back to work with them until november.

i LOVE living out of hotels, and i kind of miss the nomad lifestyle. so i'm going back equipment operating. which pays quite well. a fuckload better than working for ungreatful, latepaying, or not paying at all design clients.

so i guess i will have another "real" job again in a few days. heading back to the railroad, booya. i missed being a trackwhore kind of...

I'm a minister....seriously I am. I got my ordination a few years ago. Anyways, now I'm only working in adult.

"Do only that which is right"

polish_aristocrat 05-28-2008 04:24 AM

I'm thinking ocassionally about getting a part-time job outside this industry... not for the money, rather to convince myself if I can do anything else and for social/lifestyle reasons.

I've got a Masters degree since around 3 years but never did anything with it.

IntenseJerry 05-28-2008 04:29 AM

Hit about 2 shows a month, and then this, that and of course the other... :thumbsup
