Is anybody watching 'The Andromeda Strain'?
 

I recorded half of it yesterday. The DVR fucked up and recoded all 4 hours tonight, but it didn't record the HD stream. It looks like ass.

Is it worth looking for and re-recording, or should I just watch the mpeg-to-fuck-480i version?

I guess that's a 'No, you're the only one who watches anything on A&E.'

Also, it's pretty boring, even with the 4 months of ads the assholes ran for it. Fuck you, A&E. Bring back some good shows.

It's on again on A&E later this week, thursday I think. Twice.

I still need to watch the 2nd half. 1st half wasn't bad.

Second half is almost as bad as the last part of "The Stand" so far. I liked that made-for-tv movie, but this is just turning into quazi-nonscientific-crap. The Was Once On Law and Order guy figured there's a binary code and maybe it came from a wormhole and it's made by NASA. I think I'm gonna look for reruns of Pop-Up Video.

I just watched 28 Weeks Later the other night, and it annoyed the shit out of me.

Watching the last half of this should be a walk in the park compared to that.

Andre Braugher is pretty damn awesome, though. He can make anything suck a little less.

I made it 8 minutes through that, including the main menu.

It was one of Michael Crichton's worst books. Absolutely awful, and I like Michael Crichton, so No.... I'm not watching it.

I sat through Truman show twice, though. Other than Carey's shitty acting, it was an OK story. It is great to show paranoid people, or the severely stoned.

I wish I spent the last two hours watching tapes of "Cop Rock" instead.

What a pile of shit. The funny part is that they were running the 2 semi-custom ads for this release yesterday, and by 1/2 hour through, it was Gold Bond commercials. Wonder how much Ford shit away thinking that people would watch A&E.

The last 15 minutes were worse than the last 5 of "Session 9". The difference? Session 9 was still a somewhat-ok movie, even if the ending made it blow dead goats.

Had high hopes for this remake, but of course they fucked it up BAD. Terrible acting and poorly executed.

It can't be any worse than that Donnie Wahlberg, nightclub/drug movie, based on a real lift story they had a year ago. Complete waste of time, and one of the worst I've seen in I can't remember when.

The most interesting part of the whole thing was the discussion I had with my wife during the credits:
"I thought that Ricky Schroder didn't want to be called Ricky anymore, that he was now Rick Schroder."
"Yeah, so did I."

Seriously, if you're into both SF and science, the book was worth it. This was just a "2008 relevant movie" with the "Andromeda Strain" being the excuse to make it.

Read the book, saw the original, and after seeing all the previews I was really looking forward to seeing the remake. The first half was pretty good, but the second half was fucking terrible. I know its a scifi film and all, but the second half was just bending reality and turning it into some shitty scifi tv show. The part where the scientist cuts off ricky schroeder's finger and throws it up to benji bratt was just hilarious. If that wasnt the end of the film and I had already wasted over 3 hours of my life...I would have turned it off right then. Nice job fucking up a classic.

so yeah after my last post in here i layed down and watched the las 20 minutes or so....lolll that was some cheese fo sho...they shoulda cut it to two hours and used the left over money for a script and decent actors:2 cents:

The whole 'irradiated coolant' scene had me just glowering - I couldn't believe they shot that scene. it was like any Mary Sue fanfic ever written.. all the way down to the poor afflicted guy dying after tossing up Benji Ricky's finger. Oh lord.

So, who's up for a Silver Spoons reunion?!
