Customize a Wordpress theme

Who are the guru's for this kind of thing? I want to customize a free theme. I'd rather have someone who's better at it than I am do it for me. You should already be familiar with Wordpress (WP), and good with html/css and php.

http://www.thekickassblog.com

i grabbed that theme from http://web2feel.com/demosite/?wptheme=surfr

that was mostly header and css mods, but I can do pretty much anything

What do you need done to it? Just graphic changes or... ? Ill be up a few more. I customize a bunch for my blogs, so hit me up if you need.

Jace, I have a blog design question- Why do almost all blogs like your Kickass blog above or many porn blogs leave all that dead space on the left and right instead of using another style to filling in the width of the screen no matter what the screen resolution? Kinda like my blog at http://JimGunn.com does. Is it s stylistic thing? Is it easier to read and navigate that way?

well, my first question would obviously be...the width of who's screen? my screen is 1280px wide, while my next door neighbors screen is only 800px wide

GFY, kickes ass...lol

i'm just a fan of fixed width themes myself. i don't like my content spanning all over the place. it's not that i have anything personal against fluid designs (ok, yes i do) but keeping a fixed width on the content column just allows me to maintain the shape and structure of my posts. that is my preference for things.

me too, fixed width is the way to go for sure

I get what you guys are saying, but I always hate to see that dead space on both sides. I always feel like something else needs to get stuck in there, he he. I know people are used to it, but it just seems wasteful to me even of it is the popular option. I look at my layout on different screen resolutions and the slight re-jiggering doesn't bother me so far. I might keep it for this blog at least.

Can do it if you're still looking.

Brujah 05-29-2008 11:55 PM

I found a mag theme, but it's mostly black text on white background. I'd like to flip that around and make it dark

Do you guys realize how many people say "I can do that." or "We can do it." but turn out some really shit for work? No offense, but I'd like some kind of examples showing some really great looking custom work if you have ever done it.
