NEWEGG.com....Important Message to Our New York Customers
Here we go...........
Dear Valued Newegg Customer, As a result of recent changes in the State of New York Tax Law requiring certain out-of-state retailers to collect and remit sales taxes to the State of New York, we regrettably inform you that Newegg.com must begin collecting applicable state and local sales tax for all orders shipped to New York addresses on or after June 1, 2008. Qualified business customers can continue to use the Newegg.com Sales Tax Exempt Form. We value our relationship with you and all of our New York customers. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this change in New York law and assure you that we will continue to work hard to offer you the best prices, fastest shipping and award winning customer service you deserve. We look forward to continuing to provide you with the premier online shopping experience for all of your IT and Consumer Electronics needs. Sincerely, Bernard Luthi Newegg.com Company Spokesperson and Vice President of Merchandising |

man that sucks the big one.
|
That's so wrong. They say the reason why (at least with Amazon) is because they have affiliates that live in that state. If this stands it's really going to suck ass to run an affiliate program in the US.

damm must REALLY suck, soRRy

New Yorkers I think are higher taxed overall than Canadians which is saying a lot - financially that state is a mess financially thanks to the politicians.
|
on a lighter note newegg now accepts out of state gay marriages

Aw, man...I sincerely hope that doesn't end up biting into your sales too much.
We've had that in California for awhile now, and I have to say that it is one of the most stupid and unfair ways for states to squeeze even more tax money out of their hardworking citizens that create jobs, and already pay tons of taxes. If they would make the deadbeats pay their share, and the very rich pay their fair share, this would be unnecessary. Legalizing, regulating, and taxing, such things as marijuana and prostitution would help too, but that's probably not going to happen anytime soon. ADG |

i bet other states are gonna follow this lead now

So what if I as a new yorker order something and have it direct shipped to another state?
Says for orders shipped to new york addresses, so presume my order would be tax free still. Also, they dont HAVE to do this, they can fight it like others are. I can still drive south across the border and buy whatever I want in pennsylvania then bring it north in my car. Fucking new york state should try to TRIM THE BUDGET for once instead of endlessly increasing revenues from it's pidgeons. |
Oh, that´s nice!
