Neither great nor horrible. The weak dollar seems to be helping exports and of course there is all the government spending helping push up GDP which isn't really all that much a positive thing. Domestic sales were actually down but just .1%. Yeah the numbers can be a little shadowy.

The bigger issues right now are inflation of a few key items (energy and food!) and deflation of others (housing!) Ask people how they feel about the economy and they will probably mention those things rather than GDP or the slowly increasing unemployment. Unlike 1991 I don't know anyone personally who is unemployed (though of course there are some).
