What were your favourite DOS Games?

I just happen to download a Dos Emulator and wanted to try all those games that made me so happy back in the 90's. I'm talking about Doom, Maniac Mansion, X-Wing, Dune2 and a lot more.

So I decided to start this thread so you guys can give me more and more great titles to download and try. It's been great to see some of those games again, quite nostalgic I must say but a lot of fun. :thumbsup

Thanks in advance ppl

Commander Keen of course. Shadow Knights predates that.. also from the ID guys. Duke Nukem came later, but was fun.

Port of Call

That was freaking awesome, still miss it.

payd2purv 05-29-2008 10:30 AM

I had everything everyone else had and more but I didn't like playing them.. My favorite is racing games..

The original Test Drive, The original NFS, The original Quake, Doom, Rise of The Triad, Sam and Max, Maniac Mansion... Fuckk soo many games I don't even remember their names kinda depressing.. I dont even remember what games were dos and what was win3.11

I had more fun in qBasic and in terminal... Tweaking the computer's system files to get it to actually run some games was more fun than actually playing them..

videodoll 05-29-2008 10:33 AM

:1orglaugh castle wolfenstein and kings quest. I am sure there were many others that don't come to mind right now.

chelo - adultcopywriters 05-29-2008 10:50 AM

Wow, sierra had tons of those 'quest' games. There were the old versions and then the VGA versions. I think I'll try to get space quest 5, I don't know what happen to Sierra but those guys kinda stop making great games.

Port Call I don't recall, I'll try that too. New DOS experience hehe

Oh wow yeah Star Control was fun. Very tedious and HUGE as I recall. Back in the old days is when I took up computer programming, to program games like these old ones.. memories for sure!
I made a side scroller game where you could do all the cool moves (run, jump, crouch, crawl and even a spin attack. The prizes were pretzels, gummy bears, soda cans and money, lol. Ran pretty good on an IBM XT class which was no small feat to do with real wave sounds and in color. Shame that real life had to impose itself and I had to get a "real" job..humbug

You can never go back. Its always depressing.

Though star control 2 was pretty funny. especially when you talked to the guys with the mushroom heads and mentioned how they looked tasty and would go good with butter sauce or some shit.
