Anyone read Scott McClellan's book yet?

I'm practically orgasmic with anticipation of reading it. but the one I really can't wait for and I just know will come eventually, will be Colin Powell.

pocketkangaroo 05-29-2008 10:49 PM

I might, haven't decided yet. I have a feeling all the good stuff has already been told in the media, so I'm not really sure how interested I'll be in the rest. Definitely looking to see what Powell has to say. I'm also sure after Bush is out of office, EVERYONE is going to look to cash in with stories.

richard lewis said it best I hope I live another 40 yrs so I can be around when all the books come out about this time.

There is a lot of buzz around it for sure. I might have to check it out.

mikesouth 05-30-2008 12:22 AM

I just finished it, and I have some thoughts.

Is it self serving...no doubt about it.
do I believe the majority of it....yes I do
does it hurt Bush....How can you hurt a sitting president whose approval rating is the lowest in history?
What do I think of McClellan...I think he is a dirtbag, birds of a feather and all that, but the truth is he is a traitor he turned on the people who made him who he is. Look at G Gordon Liddy...criminal or not he took his lumps for his involvement and he didn't rat out anyone, he took responsibility and took it like a man. I have a certain respect for that.

If McClellan is all that righteous why wasn't he righteous enough to say something at the time instead of waiting till he could make big bucks doing it...So in essence he sold out twice making him....a sellout

That is what bugs me about that stuff too. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad this info is coming to light. But these guys were dirty rats for the Bush administration for years. They knew what was going on and toed the company line. If they had some major moral issues with it, they'd have resigned.

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 05-30-2008 12:56 AM

If there were lies that Bush and his administration made over some of the stuff that can be proven by what this guy says then some people in the White House would be going to Prison.

Obviously most of what he is saying is not true.

Because if it was and could be confirmed there would be alot more to this than a stupid book release. My thoughts on this book is Propaganda. Just the little th9ing about Plame set off a national inquiry and what this guy is saying in his fucking book is not good enough for another inquiry before hand? Yeah right sure...

Propaganda to make people believe just the Bush administration was corrupt which might help clean the air for McCain.

I doubt many of you really think to much though about this sort of stuff all the way through and think it hard. If you think it hard then you will see it like I do and know what I just said is the truth.

It's propaganda.

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 05-30-2008 01:01 AM

Simple propaganda for Americans to ease up a little and not believe thier government is not corrupt, it's a write off to the Bush Administration as a singular entity a cut off from what is The Norm" in our government.

The guy that wrote the book is a master at propaganda how many of you fucking forgot that? People like this just do not write books and not end up dead. If what he were saying was all true he would be have been dead before buying the typewriter.

So the auther of this book is on the hopes and approval to create another piece of propaganda for American consumption that will help deliver the Presidency to McCain and perhaps restore the loss in the belief of Republicans.

I don't buy that.. For all we know, there were some backroom conversations and they fucked him over and he retaliated in this way... It can also be viewed this way.. How could he be considered a traitor when the Bush crew are the biggest traitors to the US constitution in modern history... How you could have respect for dirt bags just because they stay "loyal" to more dirtbags is beyond me. Loyalty to ones own sense of right and wrong trumps loyality to anyone else any day.. It's because those guys lack that most fundemental of ethics that they became dirtbags in the first place.

pussyserver - BANNED FOR LIFE 05-30-2008 01:41 AM

I cannot wait to read this book. I will be picking up a copy first thing monday morning. I highly suspect Bush will end up before jury in the future....

And yes... when Colin Powells book drops shits gonna hit the fan... Colin needs to spill the beans on why he realy left....

you just dont walk away from that type of position... just dosent happen... whatever went ob had to be so brutal and so serious that it would make a man quit his high pay high reqards and respect job

I think Scotts book is just the tip of the iceburg........ the bush ship is going down hard in history

Because " you are either with us, or you are with the terrorists " ...

Simple equation for simple minds .....

This goes equally or even more so for Colin Powell. McClellan was a spokesblabber, Powell was someone the entire country respected -- he let the whole nation down!

mikesouth 05-30-2008 09:01 AM

Dont get me wrong, Im no Bush apologist...If I had my way Bush would be facing charges of treason, and I have no doubt that McClellan was fucked by the administration same as the citizenry has been but I'd respect him a lot more had he taken a different route, legal for instance.

But maybe he felt that Bush owns the legal system and this was his best way to retaliate, regardless the book is a good read, the problem is, it wont make any difference in howw the dumb masses think.

There are huge differences between Liddy and McClellan aside from that. Liddy was muscle directly involved in the douchebaggery of the Nixon admin. McClellan wasn't involved in the talks. He was the press secretary and out of the way of anything bad. He had to be kept out of the loop and constantly lied to. Now he sees what went on more clearly and he's pissed.

His job back then required his ignorance to the situation.

I'd just like to reiterate for the record, once again, that alienq is an idiot.
