YouTube isn't, but they're giving UMG the possibility to sue you I guess.

V_RocKs 05-30-2008 05:43 AM

Sue? Where does it say sue?

If you paid, you should fight it. Basically the e-mail is saying that they found their music on your video and that they have the right to run their ads on it. As you can see, there are ads to the right already that are being paid out to UMG.

Copyrights - patents - non disclosures - pre nups - licensing agreements - windows of broadcast opportunities - AOL owning time/ warner/ cnn/ - Oil prices up in tandem with exon profits - the death of liberty - erosion of habeas corpus

...and our determination to be afraid of the government

...when they should be afraid of us.

I'm just saying pocket k is spot on: fight the mofo as parastical corporate yuppy scammers.

That means you can use the content as long as you place ads on the video watch page.

This video has been removed due to terms of use violation.

Isradude 05-30-2008 07:50 AM

it has been removed, but i don't think anyone is going to sue you .....

if they would want to sue they would say something about taking legal action

pornlaw 05-30-2008 07:55 AM

YouTube probably got a DMCA takedown notice from UMG and they contacted you.

You can give them a counter notice and see where it goes.

At this point it doesnt look like you're getting sued.

If you are complying with the terms of your license for the music, then you should inform both YouTube and UMG, and then have your video uploaded again.

I have purchased licenses for a library of music (and it's not cheap), and my license clearly permits such usage.

Good luck...
