Seriously my parents did, latter in the year they then sent me out to go door to door asking for it on halloween. No wonder I was confused as a kid.

Didn't want to get me no trade
Didn't want to be like papa
working for the boss every night and day

My parents told me and my brother not to talk to stangers when we were not with them.
I guess that included accepting candies and other stuff.

I tell that to my daughter. If she's alone, she can't do that. With all the child kidnapping nowardays, we won't stop repeating her that (obviously without mention the kidnapping part) :(

Did your mom take your candy to get x-rayed at the police station before you could eat it?

Kudles 06-02-2008 05:48 PM

In fact she did.

With all the what nowadays? Do you really think stranger abductions are up much?

Although it was an option and not at a police station but hospital as back then I can not think of any reason why a police station would even have a X-ray. Instead they wanted to search all of the candy. That is when I noticed all the suspicious pieces that were confiscated were the good types of candy. I lost more faith in my parents.

Since the late 60's and early 70's when I was a kid, I'd have to say yes... ONLY due to there being a much larger population today than there was back then. More people = more sickos.

But just saying it happens more today because it's today, that's a false perception caused by global media. You hear about it more, but per capita I doubt it actually happens more.
