Idea for a tube site script.. please comment

Not sure if this has been done yet, but I'm thinking about making a submission based tube script (site) where the videos are hosted by the submitter..

I know there will be the "what if the video gets deleted" problem, but thats no different than if a submitter deletes his gallery... and this can be solved by having a "Video doesn't work" link next to the player.. and when that is clicked x number of times a script checks if the video has been deleted.. and then deletes it from the database...

How does this sound?

Honestly, that has potential.
Only problem perhaps being the host server potentially screwing up playback.

Over all though I think it could work and it could work in alot of directions.

On another note ya shouldnt put good idea's on GfY.
You will be called an idiot and in 1 month 50 sites like this will spring up.

Yeah, that it ofcourse a risk.. but then again, only like 0,01% of GFYs members are able to code shit :)

About the slow server issue I also thought about that.. have to be solved with some voting stuff or something... so maybe the vids are rated by speed or something

I don't see a tube site where I host the vids for the submitters as any way to make a profitable business

The idea of "videos beeing host by the submitter" will affect the quality of your tube since some hosts will load extremly slow and that will send visitors away.
Lets face it people these days are looking for click - video - next - next - next.
If your video doesn't load in 10 secs - he's off.
My 2 cents

I dunno file_exists() and ffmpeg-php is so goddamned hard to implement.

I am running a tube site along those basic lines. I also have another site that isnt quite a tube site that works on the same basic principle.

One is opt out one is opt in. Meaning one spiders to get its content , one uses submissions.

shoot me your icq and you can take a peek, i can let you demo one of the scripts if you like
