General Motors Corp on Tuesday said it was closing four truck plants and could sell its Hummer brand to cut slow-selling trucks and SUVs from its lineup in response to higher gasoline prices the automaker now sees as a permanent threat to its business.

It would be great if the automobile industry, and all industries really, would rally together to fight the oil industries.
The rising price of gas is hurting everyone.

closing 4 plants... that's a lot of people losing their jobs :-(

they will close that plant as well just as they closed the one in Quebec, they used to build the camaro to....

well this is not good for them

its very said but gm is a company of nonforward thinkers. When toyota first came out with the hybrid they offer to partner of the technology with gm. They were told its not fit for us. The sad part is the hard working people will lose their jobs while the non forward thinking executive team will keeps theirs.

Dont see why anyone to buy Hummer unless they got it for a steal. Sales are just going to continue to drop.

With the unstoppable increase of fuel and dropping of the the world economy, no wonder that these huge motor companies are taking their precautions. :2 cents:
