The only annoying thing about the gas prices is
that when you use your credit card to pay at the pump it stops at $75 (pre-auth I take it) and that will NOT fill my tank up. :disgust
As for the price itself, well, I think there will be lots of positives coming out of it. More car pooling, less traffic, more public transportation and of course the auto makers will make better and more fuel efficient cars in order to sell to the Americans. Outcome will be cleaner air etc. etc. etc. SO STOP WHINING AND MAKE YOUR CHANGES FELT! :thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup |
There will be changes and good ones for sure but still when I see the price. Ouch ! :helpme

The only annoying thing about the gas prices is all of the people who talk about the gas prices.

some of the old gas pumps can't go higher than $99.99 or $3.99 per gallon.

i am totally boggled by your sig Oy :)P
its off the hook... or something :winkwink: |
The pre authorization thing pisses me off as well. Our closest station has it set at 50.00 and my van takes 30 gallons. Soon I will need to use the card three times to fill up and using it twice already sucks cause it is a 1.50 charge each time I use it at the pumps.
Personally the gas prices are just the tip of the financial iceberg for many I feel. It is the trickle down effect in areas that really matter that concern me. Everything else is going up in price as well. I know I can afford it but I also know many that can not or are barely affording it now as it is. So that really means more fuel efficient cars will mean shit. |

Unfortunately I do not get to be that picky when I even get gas. I hit Arco because it is closest but that is only when someone is with me who can pump. Otherwise I am almost 100% screwed. I can either choose the nearest Chevron or I am fucked. It is insanely difficult to even get out of vehicle at a gas station as it stands due to most having very little room. Then the law is just screwed up so that yes I can have them pump my gas for me at regular self services prices, however this does not apply when they have only 1 cashier or worker on duty. Though for shits and giggles many places will have a handicapped call service button at the pumps, but it is on the island which is on those high curbs and then beyond that it is about 4 feet in the air on top of that. So assuming you already get out of your vehicle you still can not reach the damn button. Oh reason for Chevron is that they still have full service and thus I could go there at self serve prices. Flip side is that they are about 50 cents more expensive per gallon even for self serve. |

Gas prices hurt transportation, which hurts food and goods prices, which causes job loss, which causes house forclosures, which leads to job loss, blah blah blah. You get the point.

If someone can't afford the gas prices they can't afford a new hybrid

Prices rizing is imminent - especially the gas price - and the ones that feel it the most are the americans due to their big engine cars.

The biggest problem is the ripple effect the rising gas prices cause.
So, say the money that used to go for my venti Starbucks now goes to that couple extra dollars in the tank...ok, Starbucks won't miss my one purchase, but what if 50 or 60 people do the same thing...now they are selling 50-60 less coffees...maybe that's enough decrease they have to layoff one of their part time staff. Maybe that person spent their part time income on going to see a movie. Now they can't not only afford to put gas in their car, they aren't going to see that movie either. Oh, and it now costs more to ship groceries to the grocery store, so they have to cut back on that now too. It just goes on and on. This rise in gas prices causing everything else to go up. Are these people making any more money? Nope, so they are cutting out things like extra coffees and movie tickets. No, smaller companies can't afford to keep on some of their part time or they have to raise prices. |
