Clinton endorses Obama, calls for party unity

It's official Clinton endorses Obama.
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/06/...ity/index.html

Quote:

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. Hillary Clinton formally ended her presidential campaign Saturday, saying to a packed house of thousands of supporters, "I will continue to stand strong with you every time, every place and every way that I can."

She urged the cheering crowd to support Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee, in his bid for the White House, saying she and supporters should "take our energy, our passion and our strength and do all we can to help elect Barack Obama ... I ask all of you to join me in working as hard for Barack Obama as you have for me."

Her endorsement was met with a scattering of boos and thumbs downs from the crowd at the National Building Museum in Washington.
Now the race is now between Obama and McCain.

sicone 06-07-2008 03:42 PM

if the party stays divided, there is no chance of beating McCain

Pleasurepays 06-07-2008 03:45 PM

urges party unity after being the primary reason for its divisions.

nice. makes perfect sense.

For some reason these situations always make me laugh...

For months on end it's basically "he doesn't have experience, vote for me."

Now that she is out, he suddenly has experience. LOL.

Yes, I know how it works... but it's still funny.

Mutt 06-07-2008 03:52 PM

i'm sure it's going to get dirty

i really think the optics of this race are going to give Obama the win - he's young, energetic and the best orator a presidential race has seen in ages - i don't know how he's going to get the win in the electoral college but my gut says he wins somehow.

IllTestYourGirls 06-07-2008 03:54 PM

Obama or McCain it really does not matter you will just get the same. :disgust

I just dont see that is true. Mccain is a horrible speaker and his policies work against econimic and foriegn stability. You can say public speaking is nothing and you would be wrong. Plus Mccain is such a wishy washy bitch it makes me want to :throwup

Bloggers are now saying that she Suspended, so she keaps her delegates.
http://www.hillaryclinton.com/news/speech/view/?id=7903

Based on the fact that Hillary said.
Quote:

Today, as I suspend my campaign, I congratulate him on the victory he has won and the extraordinary race he has run. I endorse him, and throw my full support behind him. And I ask all of you to join me in working as hard for Barack Obama as you have for me.
So it's not official... to them.

You could also say that Hitler was one of the greatest public speakers of the 20th century, and you would be right. Which goes to show that while public speaking might be an asset in getting the job, it certainly does not guarantee one will do a good job at it.

Obama does lack experience, which is a shame. His public speaking abilities do not change that. Of course, given the fact that Obama's platform would beat McCain's platform even if every single aspect of it was botched in the execution, I'd say Obama is the only reasonable choice now.

I find it funny after belittling him for 15 months, how much is her endorsement really worth?

stickyfingerz 06-07-2008 04:44 PM

Black man named Barrack Hussein Obama. Sure of course he will win.

To a decent % of her 18 million supporters it means a lot. To another large % they understand she had no choice but to do it or be looked at as the reason for his loss in Nov if it were to happen. And to those people today and anything she says going forward about him won't matter. They are firm in their desire to not vote or go McCain.

If she didn't endorse him it would have helped re-enforce to those on the fence of her supporters to stay away from Obama. If he can't get the majority of her supporters by Nov, he is toast. So her endorsement means a lot even if it was because she had too for the party and her future career in that party.

Ehm, a fair bit?

Up until now, she was competing against him. Most people will understand that one of the points of a competition is to try and come out ahead of the other guy.

Obama has a lot in common with the rise of the nazi party and hitler. It goes further than speaking.

Out of the two he is the most reasonable. Lucky for us we have more than two people running. Bob Barr 08 :2 cents:

I guess if the whole country was full of racist assholes he might not win... thankfully, that is not the case.

Seriously, how can he not win when he's running against this guy?

You seem to be in the know about the guy. Im having trouble finding 1 thing that he has accomplished of significance during his service in public office. Can you please direct me to a link that lists anything he has done worth noting?

I honestly don't think she wants the VP job but will take it if he asks and feels he needs her. The best thing for her would to be skipped over and then she can't be a scapegoat if he were to lose.

How is obama different than what we have now?

He will keep our troops in Iraq
He is threatening Iran with war
He says he will invade Pakistan to get Osama
He will keep no child left behind
He will keep the patriot act
He will keep secret prisons
He has no plan to fix the falling dollar

How is that any different than we have right now or how is that different than McCain?
