are there any money in tube sites?

youporn.com tried to get Vivid to buy them for $20 million

Vivid says no, does not see a way to make money by giving away porn for free.

What do you think?

Nicky 06-08-2008 07:20 AM

Zorgman 06-08-2008 10:47 AM

Yes, there is money in legal tube sites. But just like anything, you need to work at it.

No - Youtube Doesnt Make A Cent.
So Porn Tubes Do.

eightmotives 06-08-2008 12:49 PM

It's definitely worth a couple million. I would say three at best. Shit will hit the fan once they start getting sued over some of the content that they don't have the right to display. The traffic alone should make for a decent offer. Those guys will be bought out in a few months. At that time you will see a number of other folks trying to run into the tube site scene, too quickly sell out to deep pockets. This is only going to get worst.

marketsmart 06-08-2008 02:19 PM

content is so cheap right now, its easy to have a 100% legit tube site and still offer 5-10 minute clips.. and yes, you can make money if you know what you are doing...

brandonstills 06-08-2008 02:52 PM

This is old news. Basically there wasn't a way for Vivid to capitalize the site so they declined.

sicone 06-08-2008 02:54 PM

If done right, any site can make money, now making a profit, or a profit large enough to justify the time and so forth is a whole other ballgame

Huge traffic bills and almost nothing from sales. What a "sweet business" :1orglaugh

i doubt those three tubes mentioned are losing money every month...

i can get a gig feed for $8k a month.. my guess would be that they are only spending around $100k a month at most to support their traffic...

if anyone knows for a fact that this figure is incorrect, then please correct me...

Tuga 06-08-2008 04:10 PM

Btw, there is no money in porn.

sulikk 06-08-2008 04:15 PM

there is A LOT OF MONEY IN PORN ;)

SomeCreep 06-08-2008 04:49 PM

For every $1 dollar generated by tube sites, the industry as a whole loses $100.

I can't speak to what the big 3 tubes are netting but i can tell you this... A Gig feed is waaaaaay cheaper than 8k a month. Alphared was selling them for $5-6k last week...

The biggest tube sites are using in the 60-100 gigs a month range.

Try $250-500,000 a month hosting bills...

60-100 gigs? that seems a little high... do you have a good source for that figure?

what bandwidth is AR selling for $5-6k for a gig feed? I know they have a ton of Level 3, but i thought the lowest you could get a gig feed from them was for $8 a meg...

GAMEFINEST 06-08-2008 08:45 PM

everyone is making money of it

Iron Fist 06-08-2008 10:03 PM

Tubes are the death of porn... right?

1-800-313-WETT 06-08-2008 11:10 PM

Anything that gets them excited to want to go to the next level, like phone sex, is good for me...
