Spunky 06-08-2008 08:31 PM

Zuzana Designs 06-08-2008 08:33 PM

woj 06-08-2008 08:37 PM

it's gotta be the tube sites...

DBS.US 06-08-2008 08:37 PM

$4.19-$4.79 here

clicker 06-08-2008 08:41 PM

If it wasnt so damn hot in FL I would ride my bike more.

GAMEFINEST 06-08-2008 08:51 PM

Its going to break 5

Odin 06-08-2008 08:55 PM

Pushing $5.80USD here and still going. I guess in the long run we need higher prices to force innovation and eventually get us off gas, but it sure does suck right now.

GetSCORECash 06-08-2008 08:57 PM

It's $4.14 by my house, that seams to be the average in Miami.

Passed by a Shell station today with $4.24 regular and it was empty, not a single sole in sight. The pumps were brand new, they even have a TV on them.

I just drive, and don't think about it.

SuzzyQ 06-08-2008 09:01 PM

Its 4.35 a gallon here in Connecticut for 89 octane. Diesel is already $5.00 a gallon.

baddog 06-08-2008 09:04 PM

I expect $5 very soon

clickhappy 06-08-2008 09:09 PM

Why can't we just drill in Alaska for oil and have drop the gas prices?

We have a ton of oil in Alaska, right? Why can't we just drill for it there and rely on ourselves instead of the people fucking us over?

Who cares if it fucks up parts of Alaska's environment, its way over there and we need lower prices to keep our economy going.

I don't see that working really. People still need to get to work, people in rural areas have no public transit and people can't just stop living their lives because gas prices go up. The consumer takes it in the ass from all directions. Gas prices get high, food prices go up, anything that is transported via truck goes up. Something has to give. People always say the oil companies squash any attempts to create something that doesn't run on fossil fuels, well if they are raising prices to get people off gas, i guess they would embrace an alternative method of fuel now. But probably not. They are just getting as much as they can while they can get away with it.

All of Alaska holds about 1 years supply for the US, and it would take years to get online. Even without legal and environmental challenges I've heard experts say it would take 10-15 years if they started today to pump anything significant. Better fuel economy standards is what you need.

Times it by 3.72 to get the US equivilance.

$1.46/litre = $5.43 per US gallon.

Robbie 06-08-2008 10:00 PM

Yeah, just filled up my vehicle with about $10 worth of gas...
But it cost me $70 :( What a load of bullshit.

CDSmith 06-08-2008 10:01 PM

Btw, where I am it's $1.32 per litre,

which = $4.91/US gallon. And it's going up again in the next few days I hear.

and up

and up

It's been going up in Vancouver a couple cents daily it seems.other than walking or the bus, consumers will be raped

Robbie 06-08-2008 10:13 PM

What's further crazy is that even the bus is gonna start costing more. Taxi's? They are gonna go up. Limo's? Forget about it! And without a taxi or a limo...that means I have to drive drunk. WTF!?! I'll be glad when Bush is gone and the oil price comes back down. I'm not sure exactly how...but this shit has to be Bush's fault somehow. LOL

pr0 06-08-2008 10:15 PM

yea & people think tube sites are killing sales

its gas...food & everything else related to a weak dollar

First of all the price right now is based on speculation and it will keep going higher, I would guess 6+ per gallon in the US. Second, more oil doesn't equal more gas. I don't think there has been a refinery built in the US in about the last 30 years. Most are already running at capacity. The amount oil in Alaska isn't going to change gas/oil prices anyway.

Here's a better idea, maybe now that it is actually hurting people someone will actually do something about alternative energy or maybe something really amazing will happen like us getting a real energy policy.

Holly 06-08-2008 10:25 PM

I filled up on Friday and it was $3.73. My mom and I went out yesterday in her car and she stopped to fill up and it was $3.87 at the same place.

mozadek 06-08-2008 10:42 PM

$4.45 in Laguna Niguel

1. Alaska has very little oil in the scheme of things and being optimistic it would give us a 25% supply at full capacity for 1-2 years before it peaked out.

2. Alaska's environment means a hell of a lot more than the minimal amounts of oil that could be obtained. In this case fuck the economy when given the option.

Rique 06-08-2008 11:44 PM

Diesel is already $5.45 a gallon here in LA.

Wait, you didnt really mean that right? Because oil prices go up you have to drive drunk? That a joke i assume?

v4 media 06-09-2008 12:32 AM

Stop moaning when it hits $10 like most of Europe then you can moan.
I cycle everywhere, use the car about once every two weeks.

GrouchyAdmin 06-09-2008 12:35 AM

It's me. I ensured that the US turned the wells over to the corrupt government before we left the last time. Sorry bra.

This photograph was taken in China. Seems they are 'addicted to oil' too...

brandonstills 06-09-2008 12:54 AM

Don't forget to factor in that the US dollar is a lot weaker than it was before. It's been over $4.00 in LA for months at least. It was like 4.89 in the remote parts on Interstate 5.

The answer is everyone.

It is the increase in world demand. The lack of refineries or ability to build them in the US. Peoples mutual funds/retirement accounts/pension plans/401k plans/etc, political instability in the middle east, China's demand and actual ban on bicycles in certain areas, India's demand, speculators, and the list goes on.

How about the $2.28 per litre, or $8.48 per US gallon we pay here in the UK? You've been getting your fuel dirt cheap for years - welcome to the dark ages that British drivers currently live in; enjoy your stay.

can't you like, walk to the store?
can't you like, bike to work?

in many big cities in the usa (vegas, phx) those two situations arent a practical option.

Yes, we can bike to work and walk to the store wherever we live in Britain, because Britain looks like this:

man, just a few years ago I was bitching about $2 gas. With oil companies making record profits, something is fucked up here. :(

Oracle Porn 06-09-2008 03:39 AM

I pay over 8 bucks per gallon and dont bitch as much as you guys do.

k0nr4d 06-09-2008 04:27 AM

I dont even look at the gas price, no point pissing myself off. It's something just under 5PLN/L for diesel which is some $2.30/L, or approx $9.50/gal

We are one of the top oil producing nations in the world. You aren't.

Did you know that people in Venezuela and Saudi Arabia, two other leading oil producing nations, pay as little as 12 cents per gallon still? I'm not suggesting we in Canada should be paying that little, but surely we should be paying a lower amount than our neighbor directly south of us.

Nevermind with this "you don't have a right to bitch" argument, it's crap. Everyone has a right to bitch, especially when they are paying twice what they were at this time last year for the same thing.

cool1 06-09-2008 05:02 AM

I think if everyone just stopped driving thier cars for a couple of days to a week then the price would come way down.

Oh please... world demand. Yeah right.
This price increase began about 7 years ago. And we all know why.

AmeliaG 06-09-2008 05:07 AM

Used to be that I always knew a $20/25 credit card charge I did not recognize was probably gas. Now it is like $70 to fill my tank.
